It would be greener but the fog hid some greeness down by the Tree line.

You have a different kind of greeness than we have here. Nothing is more beautiful than the desert after a rain. The flowers that have been hidden suddenly appear like magic.

I have a project. I am running low on water already. The water I have is turning green. It is also a breeding ground for skeeters. This water is now for the garden. This water will be garden water. I bought a 12 volt pump at Harbor Freight and will pump water out of the river for evaporation replacement. This will be pumped into the plant/goldfish pond. The plants will temper the water. Then pump that water to other pools/ ponds. I will treat the river water with bleech before I put it in my pools. The river water gets kinda gross this time of year too. I want all pathogens dead. High HO!.....High HO!.....

A 12 volt pump is better. But it is a lot easier to move air than water. All fish containing pools must get air.

Dude, ZOMG! Why must delicious fruit die for your hobby? Lol, teasing you Gallagher. I’m planning to try watermelon this year. Drill a hole and pour a bottle of vodka in that puppy, and summer fun!

Someone happened by the house and gave it to me. Have you ever tried to strap a watermelon on a cargo rack of a motorized bicycle with a bungee cord? It sure ain't easy.....

Took it a little over a mile to a friend's house and about half a mile down a dirt road. After it fell off the rack twice I just got tired of it and football carried it under my arm!

They grow watermelon around here so it's not really that appealing to me.

We have lots of seasonal northerners and Canadians who stay in trailer parks here. Every morning the orange trucks run during the picking season which is fall through winter.... And they overload them and when they go around the corner of highways every morning there's a fresh load of oranges in the gutters.

And you'll see some of these snowbirds out on their bicycle rides picking them up.... I live right across the street from a big Orange Grove. I've had all the oranges I care to eat... Same with watermelon.

You see we have a nice safe back stop to catch all the stray rounds. It's private property and perfectly legal out in the county

Until they got hit by lightning, we used to have peeps stop by and ask if they could harvest our coconuts. We got our trees cleaned for free, and they made $2 per coconut they saved me from cleaning. Win/win.

There's a little community back down these dirt roads with maybe 30 households all together. All of them are built on stilts as it's in the river flood zone.

To hear people shooting out there is completely not unusual. My friend was telling me that he was talking to a new resident who I just purchased out there some years ago....

They're sitting there talking and they hear some gunfire in the distance and the new person says should I call the police?.... And my friend was just like whatever would you do that for?

The cops would probably ask them if anyone was shot or if any bullets went on to private property where they were not welcome to or any animals poached?

And if the answer was no they would probably tell them they don't have time for that.

All the homesteads are pretty spaced out there.

I would like to buy property there myself but they want way too much money for land that is right in the flood zone.

It might be about once every 10 years but sometimes you have to park your vehicle up the hill possibly a half mile or more away from your house and take a boat to and from.

That's okay if you're retired and you know it's going to flood and you have a sufficient amount of supplies to just sit at home and wait for the water to recede. But if you have to go to work everyday that would be very cumbersome

Some of my friends out there are a retired couple in their seventies.

Many years ago they raised kids out there and they actually did have to take them to and from the school bus stop in a boat some years.

The kids are long grown now. But my friend has an above ground pool, so I go out there and we hang out underneath the house which is where the man cave is and talk politics and whatnot.

It is better to have a friend with a pool than to own a pool yourself! The same with a boat!

The last flood that you had to use a boat to get to your car with was hurricane Irma 2017.

But after a couple of weeks the water will go away. But the dirt roads are a terrible muddy mess for probably another two weeks

morning all.. have one rabbit (wild) that the cats haven't gotten, used to have at least 4. The rabbits and a lot of birds is about all I have... all sorts of birds show up. I can think of 9 large bird species, who are regulars, and several song birds. I have a lot of trees.

Further on out, useed to be I could drive ten minutes up the FM, and be the only person for a hundred sq. miles. More than once I suggested and or confirmed to buyers that cannon could be fired out there.

Still places round here that are 4 hours from services ,most critical being medical.

After I get this addition finished , I am going to start a water use plan.. I'll be using gray water from the sink and tub, but it might need more. I'd like to use the washing machine water, but I am concerned the bleach in the wash will sterilise the plot. And ther is no way my wife will stop using the stuff,

I love places like that you just want to be extra careful not to get hurt.

My friend said years ago for whatever reason the law did show up out there and asked if he's been firing guns lately.

In about that time someone across the river and down a bit opens up with a fully automatic and my friend said well you might have been hearing that....lol.

Either someone out there is a bad boy or someone has a class 3 permit. You still here full autos once in awhile. or maybe a bump stock someone "forgot" to turn in?

SO.. used to go out to a place that was used for just those purposes, several FFC 3 guys oout there. They moved there, they'd try to get private, rent a range for the day, but they'd have LE from every adjacent county.. or all with in hearing distance, they'd all jump out and unlatch their holsters.. do a quick look at the weaponry and the grizzled old farts shooting them and surreptitiously button it back, biggest problem with them was they wanted to spend the rest of the day BS and trying to cadge a turn shooting, the old guys wanted to shoot (and drink beer)
Got a funny story about when LE showed up a Camp Holland, Barbie and Ken of the BP!

Unless you're just rich with money to burn you better have a 22 if you're shooting full auto now.

The last time I looked I think it would be a good deal if you could get a 223 round for $0.80 in bulk.

And your larger center fires could easily cost well over a dollar around. As far as I know I don't go shopping for it, just look at a curiosity sometimes or ask my friends that go through tons of ammo

Bleach will evaporate out of water pretty quickly especially in the sun. I use it to treat river water for the fish.

I believe that's why they don't put it in clear plastic bottles. If I'm not mistaken it even says on the bottle not to store it in sunlight. The city tap water here is loaded with chlorine and I used to leave an open container in the fridge and it would evaporate some of it off

Which is why I wasn't really into it as much as those guys, also they'd drink and shoot, I prefer shoot then drink. Most of them keep their cost down by reloading, but they'd drop hundered of dollars worth of rounds once a year. Asked me if I wanted to shoot the 50 cal, isaid "no, let me have the five dollars and kick me in the shoulder, I'd be happier" . I figure that iff it need to shoot something a mile away, I could do it on someone else's dime.
Got my son a full auto bb gun.. and it is still expensive.. it'l go thru an air cartridge and 40 BBs in a microsecond.

Need you an air compressor to have fun with one of those. My legal options are somewhat limited.

I have an 1858 Remington New model army clone made by pietta of Italy, it is perfectly fine for me to have. Anything made on or before 1918 or reproduction thereof.

It's a beautiful revolver with a blue steel 1 ft long octagon barrel that is rifled. The frame is brass, the grips are very nice polished wood.

It might take you 10 minutes to load but once you're fully loaded you do have six rounds of Big bore single action ready to go. Firing a 135 grain round lead ball at around 1,000 ft a second.

Now I have to clean the damn thing before rush sets in because you know how black powder guns are. I fired a total of 28 rounds and the last two rounds I had to actually help the cylinder turn by hand because it gets so gummed up from all the powder residue.

I think you may have seen my pictures in the past where I cast my own lead ball for it. A pound of powder is about $30, and I'm firing approximately 27 grain loads of powder, there are 15 grain per gram. So you get at least several hundred maybe 400 shots out of a pound of powder.

And I only pull it out and shoot it about once a year and I still have about two and a half pounds of powder so I'm probably set for life.
