I don't like socialism. I don't want socialism. I don't want government controlling my life from cradle to grave. Get government out of my life.

again you demonstrate your lack of understanding. It does establish standard pricing for all services covered under the plan, which in most nations is around 70% of healthcare services and does consider the vast differences in location costs.

Not surprised you express such a strong opinion while seeming to lack much actually knowledge of the issue. Oh well I guess we are all guilty of it in one form or another.

They are absolutely luxuries, in the context of planet earth. Have you any conception of how poor and how lacking (luxuries) the vast majority of humanity is. Having access to clean water, free education, and certainty that you won't starve is WAY more than most could ever dream of.

I have never proposed ending welfare.

In the meantime, if there is no immediate threat of starvation, some people will do nothing. Such people actually need the threat of starvation to motivate themselves. It's human nature.

Are you aware of the link between farming and the food on your table?

are you familiar with the fact that cost subsidies from the government are a form of socialism?

Yeah I mean ambition, ego fulfillment, competition, desire, greed, love, character, pride aren't elements of human nature and certainly aren't motivations. Nope its all about are you starving or not.

Well I suppose such cynical narrow minded generalizations as yours are also a part human nature.

They are for many, but not for a majority of the welfare sucking cretins

Heck, you're far from starving and still demanding other people's stuff. And you are proud of yourself

No they ain't. They are 'expenditure' of capitalist surplus.

If you think it's 'cynical' to be more concerned with skeletal children dying in the dirt, than fat lazy welfare saps in the First World, I doubt we exist on the same planet.

totally false dichotomy. But you do seem particularly adept at it.

I'll take that as an admission of guilt.

And there was nothing false about it. The buck stops at 'fat lazy First Worlder vs starving child'. There's an absolute moral high ground in that scenario, see if you can spot it.

    Not even slightly.

Capitalism produces profit (surplus), and that surplus is used to purchase services the capitalist is unable or unwilling to perform themselves. It makes no difference whether those services have an emotive appeal (social services, for egs), they are still paid services.

Communism does not produce profit (surplus), so all services are carried out by the communists themselves.

Well he's not the only one. Did you get your Economics degree from Websters or Phoenix? As much as it pains me to agree with Jonsa, he is right. The goal however, is to be LESS socialistic in the USA. You however, can run your own country into the gutter to your heart's content. You are almost there.

National defense is the priority job of the national government. Article One, Section Eight of the Constitution lists 17 separate powers that are granted to the Congress. Six of those powers deal exclusively with the national defense—far more than any other specific area of governance—and grant the full range of authorities necessary for establishing the defense of the nation

Ironic then that the military industrial complex does everything but defend the nation...
