Does that statistic include justifiable homicide? We have about 100 per year in TX alone. 1/2 by police and 1/2 by CHL holders and private citizens.

Such a small percentage of the total that it does not even matter but it is likely no included. Homicide is defined as the UNLAWFUL killing of a person.

    Justifiable homicide is not homicide?

Murder is the unlawful killing of another.

    Wow. -Someone- failed vocab 201
Homicide is the killing of a person by a person.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homicide
Sometimes it is legal, sometimes it is not.

I looked it up. You are correct. I still see the number as so small it does not move the needle

Texas had 270 murders in 2015. I can't lookup the 2015 days on my phone, but we have averaged 50-65 justifiable homicides per year lately. That's about 20% of all solved homicides in Texas. Texas keeps very thourogh statistics on all convictions. While it will be a smaller percentage of total homicides, it's not negligible.

Post #41 is a study that is about 20 years old. It doesn't explain the methodology of determining which states have higher gun ownership. We know there is no registration or a solid way to determine that number. That means they relied on polls. Do we know how many people were surveyed? What questions were asked? Were the people completely forthcoming? Is it possible that this study was paid for by a group that wanted a particular outcome?
    We know none of this.
However, we do know recent FBI statistics.
We do know from these stats that states with stricter gun control, have higher gun homicide rates.
We do know from these stats that states with less strict gun control, have lower gun homicide rates.

    Indeed.
The fact that 12 of the 15 states with the lowest gun-related murder rates have "loose" gun laws is from the 2015 FBI uniform crime report.
Looser gun laws = lower gun related murder rate.

    I don't ignore homicide stats.
    I don't ignore suicide stats.
    But you do.

"Gun deaths" is a meaningless term. Suicide is not homicide, different causes, different solutions, different impacts on society.

It seems there is a clear path to reduce gun deaths. States with strict gun laws have the fewest gun deaths. Gun control works

That claim has been disproven repeatedly. I've posted the FBI UCR data showing your claim is a lie. And yet you still persist in the lie.

The total number of all deaths attributed to the use of a firearm are of no relevance. Only those classified as homicides are of any relevance to the discussion. Stop attempting to derail the discussion with your approach to confusion.

    - - - Updated - - -

    Which means absolutely nothing.

    - - - Updated - - -

Except for the fact that absolutely nothing is as simple as you are claiming it to be. Demonstrate how these supposedly strict laws are keeping firearms from coming in from other states. Demonstrate how these supposedly strict laws are stopping individuals from using a firearm to commit suicide. Demonstrate that your position has any actual merit at all.

The only statistic that should matter are "murder" statistics. It doesn't even matter whether a gun was used or not. Murder is murder. Homicide can be justified and suicide cannot be prevented.

I have posted the VPC data quite clearly for anyone to read.

    - - - Updated - - -

Suicides are prevented every day in this country

    - - - Updated - - -

It is quite as simple as I have explained. Strict gun control reduces gun deaths.

The data is quite clear. You can claim the earth is flat if you like....but the data is also clear on that point. LOL

No it's been proven an outright lie...many times. That was the point yet you persist in the lie.....Oh well for a brief fleeting moment you had us all convinced you understood it was a lie but you ducked back under the cover of only believing lies that play on your fears. So sad :frown:

Ok. You are free to believe it is a lie if it makes you feel better. You are also free to believe the world is flat. LOL
