I think you would have enjoyed it. I came from Tanks but actually ended up being an Infantry team leader while deployed because they scrambled the tankers and grunts together into one big battalion and spit us out into different infantry companies for the war since we cant use tanks in Afghanistan. And no Im not claiming I was Infantry (I know you guys hate that lol) but I was an Infantry fire team leader during that time.

I put my WOFT packet together after I got back from that deployment and got picked up. Being a Warrant Officer is the greatest gig in the entire military. I came from the world of combat arms, this life here is like a completely different world of the military. We are pretty much civilians that wear uniforms. We get all of the cool stuff about the Army and very little of the "Army" stuff. Its all a first name basis, we pretty much make our own schedules, everyday is like casual Friday, everyone is so relaxed and chill that I am still not quite used to it yet having been a ground pounder for so many years. Enlisted respects you because you are a Warrant and Officers respect you because they know you used to be an NCO for the most part and they know that being in charge of Warrants is akin to herding cats. We are in purgatory in between Enlisted and Commissioned to where nobody bothers us and we pretty much do what we want, much to the dismay of the higher enlisted who calls us prima donna's.

I was sitting around talking to a First Sergeant a few weeks ago and he flat out said "No offense Chief, but I hate you Warrants its like you guys go out of your way to purposefully wipe your ass with Army regulations" LOL.

Like the old saying goes "Warrant Officers have too much rank to get in trouble for anything and not enough rank to do anything".

I wish you would have been more patient man, it really is a wonderful life.

AHHHH! So nice to read this. Congrats, Chief, I envy you! I am still young and still eligible to submit another packet. Your story alone is enough to call up the recruiter. I really want to fly.

Of course don't throw a guy in jail that lied about his military service to hook-up with women.

But someone that lies about it to get public office, money or benefits----they should face public humiliation, at least---depending on the level of lying.

Jail time for those getting thousands in benes.
