    Here is a historical question:

When was Jefferson's copy of the Koran printed? Is it formatted in numbered chapters and verses? Is it written in English or in Arabic? If it is written in Arabic could Jefferson read and understand it by himself? I doubt if you will ever find those answers. The whole thing could be just propaganda without any truth behind it.

It was written in the mid 17 hundreds and the first English translation, I believe 2nd edition, and not one of the accredited ones.
There are copies available but I never read it.

That is not true. The Bible is far more violent. The Bible is also far more racist. The main purpose behind Islam is to force people to buy specific clothes from certain manufacturers and to force them to go to the Islamic theme park in Saudi Arabia and to buy animals for ritual sacrifices. It is all about the money. If you had to live under ancient Israelite/Hebrew/Jewish rules or under modern day Islamic rules you would probably eagerly choose the Islamic rules. But they both suck big time and should be avoided if possible.

    https://www.oregonlive.com/faith/2016/02/the_bible_is_more_violent_than.html

The bottom line is that it is foolish to believe in ancient ethnocentric Middle Eastern Jewish and Arabian religious fairy tales in the 21st Century.

I said I didn't read it, and numbers and verses mean nothing, if you don't know how to arrange them.

You obviously know nothing of at least one of those religions.

Ishaq is 600 pages of fine print.
    Taburi is 40 volumes.

In 80% of the writings, Muhammed is robbing, raping, or killing someone.

    He was just like Moses.

The point is that if Jefferson's Koran is not formatted in numbered chapters and verses that means that all Korans have been modified since he got his. That is a big thing because it means that the fanatics are quoting a recent fake Koran.

I think there is more to it than that.
He got a translation that may or may not be correct, it is not accredited, so it most likely has mistakes.
However nothing is based on his, all the translations are independent of each other, going back to the original classical Arabic.

BTW, There are lots of translations out there that are no good.
Intentionally made for dumb westerners, who will believe anything.

I prefer to stick with the top 5 translations.

Thomas Jefferson (an enlightened western thinker) was seeking insight on how to end the brutal enslavement and murder of Americans at the hand of muslims.

Too bad that slaver Jefferson wasn't concerned about the people he kept in brutal enslavement himself.

He was a forward thinker that led to a nation that ended an institution that had existed since always.

Ironically, slavery continues even today in islamic north africa.

Jefferson was part of the gang that started the Revolutionary War so that they could keep their slaves.

His slaves were not in brutal enslavement.
Most probably had better lives than free whites.

As if the the Bible should be a book to swear an oath on. I'd swear an oath on the Urantia Book.

    Weren't they lucky!

Remember that if you ever become a slave.

Isaiah 14:1-2 (CEB) = *The Lord will have compassion on Jacob, will again choose Israel, and will give them rest in their own land. Immigrants will join them, and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. 2 The peoples will take them and will bring them to their own place. The house of Israel will possess them as male and female slaves in the Lord’s land, making captives of their captors and ruling their oppressors.*

The Jesus character said that people should never swear any oaths. So why do you want to swear an oath on the Bible when it plainly says that is something you should never do?

Jefferson was a Deist. He owned a Qur'an not for personal guidance or wisdom, but to understand a medieval, truculent enemy who based their policy upon their religion.

" . . . That this might not be so easy was discovered by Jefferson and John Adams when they went to call on Tripoli’s envoy to London, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman. They asked him by what right he extorted money and took slaves in this way. As Jefferson later reported to Secretary of State John Jay, and to the Congress:

'The ambassador answered us that [the right] was founded on the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have answered their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.'

Medieval as it is, this has a modern ring to it. Abdrahaman did not fail to add that a commission paid directly to Tripoli—and another paid to himself—would secure some temporary lenience. I believe on the evidence that it was at this moment that Jefferson decided to make war on the Muslim states of North Africa as soon as the opportunity presented itself. And, even if I am wrong, we can be sure that the dispatch of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps to the Barbary shore was the first and most important act of his presidency. It took several years of bombardment before the practice of kidnap and piracy and slavery was put down, but put down it was, Quranic justification or not."

    Jefferson killing Musselmen and winning.
