Ah, higher education! The institution that provides society with its intellectuals and that fosters our future world-improvers. Or is it? No. The life of a college/university student is often coined by a highly immature and exagerratedly childish behaviour where the best thing in the world is to get drunk, play beer-pong and go on mascarades where the goal is to satisfy one's crave for STD's. The behaviour is cross-disciplinary and everything from chemistry and engineering students to gender studies students seem to engage in it and I find it absolutely appalling that adults find it funny to brehave in this teenage-esque manner and ever more worrying that what is supposed to be an intellectual, learning environment is defined by alcoholism and promiscuity. Why is it, do you think that students don't want to grow up? Is this good or bad? Is this part of a wider societal decline or has higher education always attracted this kind of behaviour? Is this just an exaggerated stereotype?
On the other coin add in SJW's and Snowflakes with their trigger words, safe spaces and refusal to hear alternative and oppositional views it can be as bad. But I would say its the quality of the student and ease of getting into a school and funding earning a degree and the quality of the degrees. It used to be even if a student was a humanities major they left deep scholarly thinkers steeped in the great works of civilization and could write well, speak well, think well and handle the weight of leadership a degree holder was. And then you had then men and women of science, research, medicine, engineering, business and finance who learned to lead in those fields perhaps earning advanced degrees. Now anyone with half a brain can get money for a degree and shouldn't be going IMHO. Now the parents let me go there and say if they pay anything they should dictate what the student takes, and should pull funding if they fool around instead of hit the books and have legal and non-disruptive activities which may be enjoyable or of career value and that may mean going to the campus and drag them home if they are Antifa or SJW's disrupting campus. The schools also are to blame they should be for the best students, motivated older students and those who want to go and benefit from the education if they protest on campus disrupting it and threatening guests they need to be suspended and expelled as needed free speech does have limits if your threatening anyone or use violence you are thugs. And end safe spaces and trigger words they are adults they need to toughen up and deal with things the real world is a cruel place and won't be nice to them.
Don't give these whipper snappers the honor of being defined by alcoholism and promiscuity. What these children call a bad ass weekend any Marine would consider a quite Tuesday in.
