In Alabama the 22 shortage is mostly over. Sometimes they have them, sometimes not, but at least you dont have to wait on the truck in the morninig.....lol

 

What scope did you get?

Simmons 3-9x32...............it was a trip. I had to aim about 2' over the target. Clipped it once and the rest went around. Lots of factors, wind humidity and owner use. Got lots of .22 now, so I'm not really concerned about ammo usage. I don't intend on making any accurate shootings at that range. Just wanted to see if I could do it again. I wouldn't bet my life with a .22lr at that range.
I suspect that I will get a Ruger 10/22 mag for Christmas. That'll be the one to test the scope on.

Awesome! That 3-9x will be perfect for that range. I still need to go to the range and sight in my scope I recently got. Was going to last week but a stye popped up, on my aiming eye.

I honestly didn't know they made a 10/22 Mag, the wife may get peeved at me, again.

Given to me by my Dad, so I can't really afford it either, lol. Awesome rifle though. Great shooter.

 

fired the 22 mag once. It's got a bit more punch and goes a bit further on the drop. 125-140 yds with minimal drop. Rounds are expensive, tho. I have a few boxes of .22 mags I've traded other rounds for.

 

It's a great little rifle, but there are plenty other good ones. I know you have a some!

The best 5.56mm/ .223 I ever had, and I still kick myself for selling it (had to once I left active duty for unemployment) was a Daewoo K1A1. Best little shooting 5.56mm I ever had.

Dad has a .22 Mag Lever gun I hope to inherit some day. Sweeeet rifle. Would love to put a suppressor on it and take it prairie dog hunting. A lever gun with a can, how cool is that?

Buddy of mine had one, he sold it because he needed cash.....never even considered that I'd love to own it.

Along with several other guns. The good news was that I never collected unemployment, but for 9 months, my one and only job was driving four hours to New Orleans for Naval Reserve duty as a weekend warrior.

Sold a Colt Python too. Along with other guns like my H&K91. Part of it was that I sold the higher priced guns and managed to retain lower priced but good quality ones. For example, in the case of the Python, I kept the S&W 686. Sold the Daewoo and kept the Ruger Mini-14. Sold a Taurus PT-92 but kept my Browning HiPower (my favored sidearm and probably a bit more valuable than the Taurus).

 

Sad times.

True. Sad for me, better for most everyone else. My unemployment was a consequence of the Cold War ending and the downsizing of militaries in both the US and former USSR.

 

Many here know I'm an AK fan, mainly due to the superior hunting capability of the 7.62X39 vs. the .223, but recently I came across a Bushmaster XM-15 E2S for a price I couldn't pass up (about $500). Today my order came in for 500 rounds of HP ammo and 3 extra magazines. In the picture is also 1800 feet of paracord I use for a hobby. Should make for a fun day of shooting.

 

The Mini-14 is a pretty great all-around rifle.

Its too bad Ruger had to sell their souls to Feinstein in 2012 when they tried to gain a monopoly on the 'assault rifle' market by signing on to the 2012 assault weapons ban and signalling they dgaf about our rights, capitalism or really anything but $$$.

I won't give Ruger a dime.

But I'd consider buying a Mini-14 second hand, if I didn't already have a 5.56 Saiga

 

I rarely buy NIB. Ruger is great, but I'm sure theirs was a business decision even though I hate to see anyone give in to the gun banners.

 

Get a mini 30 in 7.62 x 39, I have mine set up like a Styr Scout high rise scope mount with a long eye relief pistol scope so I can use iron sights for close up shots and scope for longer shots.

It came with a NcStar P4 4X32. It has a quick release lever. I'll add a green dot laser but will have to shoot it first to determine whether or not to upgrade the scope or switch it to a red dot or holographic. I don't foresee using it to shoot further than 200 yards, but it'd be nice if I could accurately hit something at that range.

 

It looks like the optic my son has on his AR. We're working up to shoot the NTIT someday and the new service rifle rules allow carbines with optics.

I'm looking at the EoTech 512 and Burris Fastfire....although I'm leaning toward the EoTech because the MOA is smaller even when magnified. Using AA batteries is a plus albeit the Burris batteries last 2 years in continuous operation.
