The bakers winning is a win for common sense. If you force people against their will, it's against their rights. The gays just had to simply go and find a bakers willing to make the cake. I can't see a difference in this case as going to a Muslim bakers asking for a cake with Mohammed's face on it. Is everyone gonna have a dickie fit over that as well when the Muslims yell, "Feck off"?
Doesn't matter whether the story is fake or not, it is still a good subject for discussion. Tough call here. I believe in maximal freedom that still allows a functional society. And that includes the freedom to associate with those one prefers. It seems not quite right to force someone to associate/ do business with someone they don't want to do business with. On the other hand, I can see the other side, it seems blatantly wrong to ban a group of people from purchasing a faucet washer. Perhaps the proper call is to side with maximal freedom and let the public/consumer determine the failure or success of the hardware store as webrockk mentioned above. Another issue is the sign itself - what if the store owner hangs the sign but actually does let gays shop there, and never tries to stop them. Should it be illegal to hang that sign? I don't think it should be. Again, let the "public court of the free market" decide.
We have learned plenty from history, actually - perhaps you don't give society enough credit. Do you feel that a store that had that Coca Cola sign in its window would be wildly successful? Or do you think most consumers would think the proprietor was nuts and avoid that store? Should there be laws against that sign? Do you think a proprietor who put that sign in his window should be put in prison?
Yup, dumb indeed. From the four/five dozen various news stories where cops were refused service to this one incident from back in 2015. All dumb.
Homosexuality isn't a protected class in all places, or gender identity, therefore they aren't protected like other groups.
Tennessee store owner replaces 'No Gays Allowed' sign By: Brittney Baird Posted: Jul 01, 2015 05:42 AM CDT Updated: Jul 01, 2015 05:42 AM CDT http://www.wkrn.com/news/tn-store-owner-defends-no-gays-allowed-sign/1091370456 picture of the sign from that 2015 article picture from the OPs Yahoo article same picture the recently posted one just zoomed in more but as you can see it is the exact same placement on the door and I saved the best for last from the article you just posted in your reply that it isn't Fake News Update: USA Today has since updated its original story to clarify that the "No Gays" sign was originally put up in 2015 and not in connection to the recent Supreme Court ruling. The story was picked up by numerous media sources this week. The "No Gays Allowed" signs are still up at the store, according to photos on Amyx's website. https://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2018/06/no_gays_allowed_tennessee_stor.html like I said Yahoo gave us FAKE NEWS
So if the owner says he put it back up why are Yahoo!'s here claiming fakery ?? Owner says he did it so WTH.
oh thats good. What happened to the gun owners not welcome crowd? Did you speak out against that or did you make statements for it?
Yes I did so go and find those posts and read them. Unlike Trumpeizdas I take a level rational approach to issues. You could learn from my example.
The media will falsify reports to make a point. 1) NBC blew up a Chevrolet pickup truck with a bomb to show the trucks were "dangerous". 2) Consumer Reports lied about the Suzuki Samurai rolling over easily to sell magazines. The msm sucks. It's Pravda with a different agenda.
Hardware stores seem to be disappearing in the wake of internet shopping just like most retail businesses. It takes a true idiot to advertise for fewer customers. Nevertheless, it is his business and he should be able to do business with whom he chooses. Most homophobe business owners understand that the dollars a gay customer spends is worth exactly the same as all the other dollars. I don't care who hates whom but I hate to see incompetent business management. The hardware store owner is incompetent.
According to snopes the news report used the old 2015 photo and story and it was erroneously picked up as current. Thus, fake news.
