OK, folks, here we go again.... Now the big newsmaker is "BA.5", and evidently it's the most contagious variant of all!

Supposedly Moderna and Pfizer will have a 'booster' for this (?) by October or November, but in the meantime it's spreading like wildfire. A number of localities and institutions are already asking people to 'mask-up' again. Your thoughts?

I have to express an opinion as thread-creator, so, I'll just say that I'm more sick of all the overreaction and panic than I am of the virus. I will wait to see what's available in October or November, but I'm in no hurry at all... not this time! I've got enough Lysol, masks, gloves, vitamins, and other crap stacked up all over the damned place to ward off nearly anything imaginable, so, I'm not going to go off the deep end this time!

We may all be bored shitless by 'the virus' by now, but this chart is a sobering reminder that perhaps we shouldn't -- notice that the "BA5" variant wasn't even measurable in the United States just three months ago!

 

Golly... Democrats must have finally figured out that locking folks up for their own good isn't a winner anymore...

 

People will be asked to mask up again in most places by this fall.

This isn't because anyone wants to take away our freedom, it's not even really because they want to prevent people from dying.

People who get covid are still too sick to work for a few days, and it is important that we prevent large swaths of the workforce from being home sick at the same time.

 

I agree. And in just the past two weeks I've seen a neighbor of mine -- a big, healthy, robust fellow who bragged long and loud about not getting any COVID vaccination -- get sick as a damned dog with some variant or other, and his wife, too. Both were officially 'diagnosed' as having COVID, so this wasn't just some other thing they caught.

I'm sick of the virus, too, as most of us are. I had the vaccination(s), and one booster, but then I drew the line at a second booster because I genuinely felt that the "experts" were just 'throwing mud against the wall" to see how much would stick. Now it appears obvious that whether we're bored with it or not, more variants and more vaccination(s) are coming our way, and these BA5 and BA2.75 things are already here....

yea, i've had three shots. I'm not against getting another in the fall. I get a flu shot every year.

Nothing is 100%, the experts aren't always right, but they do know better than us. I know that has become an unpopular opinion, but it is true.

I do not think the experts are all part of some vast conspiracy to control us, or even entirely driven by profit. I know the cool kids will call me a sheep for saying that, and my response is Baaaaaa.

To the people with a compromised immune system, yes. Vax does nothing for a healthy non at risk person.

 

Democrats are getting ready for midterm. Just wait for it, shutdown the country during mid October.

 

I wont be getting this vaccine either, nor will I be masking up any more than is required by the property owner of wherever I must go. I would swear to avoid social distancing, but as an asocial, that is basically my modus operndi anyway ...so I'll keep doing it.

Oh no, not another variant! What happened to all the others that were going to wipe us out? Roll out the ‘experts’ with another load of gibberish and statistics to prove there are millions dying all around us that we hadn’t noticed. Why not stick to Monkeypox, it sounds much better than catching BA.5. They should be working on a vaccination that will stop people voting for characters like Biden, I’m sure vaccinations would then become very popular.
