Ah, once again we hear the same tired, old mantra: The American Civil War forever settled the issue.

Or, so we are informed by the left.

But many states nowadays are beginning to realize that they--not the federal courts--must be the final arbiters of constitutionality; and they are beginning to assert that right. Vigorously.

I truly believe that the states have no intention of backing down on this extremely important matter; and that, regardless of how deeply this may discomfit the Obama administration and the American left in general.

Oh, an addendum: Some 75 years ago, Mao opined that "[p]olitical power grows out of the barrel of a gun."

Many opponents of states' rights--who, correspondingly, are proponents of an overweening federal government--appear to think this way also...

There is no reason to exempt Persons who are specifically unconnected with militia service from State laws regarding gun control that are enacted in that State specifically for those civil persons.

Thank you for pointing out a reason for our Second Amendment.

Legislation to add the background check on private sales, has widespread support among the American people. magazines in themselves might not violate Heller. The courts will figure out that one.
