I almost dumped the link as soon as I saw the BS PIMP MOYERS as the "author", but decided to look anyway. The only thing that raised an eyebrow was the ad nauseum false claim against Jefferson and the Church/State nonsense. Which just goes to show that even though I agree with what Texas has done overall to beat back the Lib Dogma that has pervaded the discourse for decades, they too are as as susceptible to propaganda lies as anyone. Still overall they get high marks for trying to right the left leaning ship of education.

    ?

It is a current event that I saw on Facebook, so I posted it on this forum to show other people. That's all. Please contribute to the thread if you're going to post.

Yeah I could see the bias in the article but some were a little strange.

Education should be neutral, though. Not partisan. Kind of makes me sick when either side tries to push their agenda on education.

sad that republicans try to use government to force their religious beliefs on the people, why can't they support religious freedom for all, don't they want Americans to be free to think for themselves?

religion is a private mater for each American to decide for themselves, it's not the place for government to decide for you

if republicans truly believed their religion is good, they would not need the government to force it on people

    http://rationalrevolution.net/articles/history_of_the_separation_of_chu.htm

"When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.
    - Benjamin Franklin: in letter to Richard Price, October 9, 1780"

Its a lot simpler to kick the 15 board members out of the Union and that will be more fun.

But you're OK with the liberal horde controlling the public schools with their religious hating unions?? Not a problem for text books to deny God??

You know what liberals hate about God? The idea that you have to save you own soul from hell without God stepping in to stop you from sinning. The self reliance aspect is something that they just can't accept.

where did I say that, I do not think it is the governments place to teach people to love or hate your religion

I have no issue with your children going to Sunday school if you want them too, that is your choice, not the governments to make for you

as far as me needing to "save" myself from your god's wrath, I do not believe that to be the case, as I do not believe in your god, I do though believe in a higher power, I just do not feel the need to have public schools proselytize children with my beliefs or yours

What, are you kidding me? A free-thinking America would have jettisoned the Republican Party 50 years ago.

Ya know, I've never seen a law anywhere that says conservatives cannot become teachers. Or administrators. Or even sit on a school board. Don't you have something better to do than sit on your thumb complaining?

I do take issue with Sunday School, however, because it is indoctrination at a tender young age.

I hear all the time about this supposed "liberal" slant in education, but when push comes to shove, no one seems to be able to give me any examples of this.

Good for Bill Moyers. The conservative propaganda inserted into these Texas texbooks by the conservative Reichstag are ludicrous. Phyliss Schlafly a "hero"? To whom, Eric Rudolph and the John Birch Society? And how about this whopper....Ronald Reagan “needs to get credit for saving the world from communism and for the good economy over the last twenty years because he lowered taxes.” Saved the world? LOL And he raised taxes 11 times, you dolts. Also raised the debt ceiling numerous times. Thank goodness there are still people like Bill Moyers who are trying to raise the level of education in the US despite all the efforts of the do-nothing yahoos who are bent at dumbing down America further.

Established facts qualify as a "liberal slant" to this bunch of yahoos.

I feel bad for kids now, a lot of history they teach is just propaganda, from all sides. I'd fully advise they do their own research, like I did when I was 16-17. and still do today.

I lived in an area where opportunity for outside learning was all but nonexistent, and still wound up a libertarian... So where was the liberal slant I missed?
