GOP-run Senate has one rule for Republican Presidents and another rule for Democrat Presidents. GOP Presidents may choose a supreme court justice in their last year but Democrat Presidents cannot. the GOP has forced our hand. We have to pack the court. fight fire with fire!!!
I would say the opposite. We had an abusive court until Trump made the changes to the members of the court.
You are missing what I would select so I added it. How long something has been is irrelevant. 13 justices or no deal. Do you really think anyone is going to lock the court after the stunt y’all just pulled?\ Hell no
See your problem is you believe you did own the court. Ownership is not desirable. And now you believe you lost ownership. Why would all decisions only favor Democrats? As for a large part they have?
That amendment won't pass in this climate. I think the number should be set, but bipartisan agreement is currently impossible. I suppose if we needed to revise the Patriot Act, AKA more spying illegally on Americans, the bipartisan support would be unprecedented. Stuff that actually helps the country and its' citizens? Not now. No way. If the democrats pack the court, it could lead to unprecedented Republican control for years. They would, of course, pack the court further. What a hot mess.
Yes, but that spans the entire history of the country. In election years, when the Senate and WH are the same; they get confirmed. When different, they do not. It is what it is. This has happened, what, 20 times, now?
Is that supposed to some challenge because you refuse to be on topic? You feel hijacking threads is proper forum decorum? Rule 5
Obama’s seat was absolutely stolen, if Republicans had nominated two centrist judges we wouldn’t be where we are but they instead placed two partisan hacks. Just as Democrats don’t own the court neither do the regressives.
I have a tie back to a post I responses to which makes it acceptable according to prior discussions with the mods. Feel free to report however.
name the last time the Senate did not allow a President to nominate a Supreme Court Justice in his last year.
Reid changed rules. And he could have changed the rule that is actually followed by the Senate. Reid decided not to change the rule by the Senate that allows them to not vote at all. There is no law saying the Senate has to vote. As it now is, only fear on your part is overruling the mind.
he said he wants a third term https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrew...m-because-hes-entitled-to-it/?sh=41fd326d287c
