If you are interested in oceans and dams, I'd suggest looking up the city of Miami Beach and the city of New Orleans - two places where dams against the rising ocean are significant to the local population.

The unimproved value of land is created by the community, not the owner, therefore rightly belongs to the community that creates it, not the owner, and modern mainstream neoclassical economics was deliberately corrupted and falsified to prevent understanding of that fact.

Of course it can. That is its purpose. The greedy, privileged, parasitic, super-duper uber-rich can easily use the "Fair"tax to not pay any taxes by the simple expedient of doing all their consuming in countries that don't tax consumption. Ordinary citizens don't have that option. The only purpose of the "Fair"tax is to exempt the rich from taxation and force producers and consumers to subsidize the privileged even more than they already do.

Only fools, economic ignorami, and servants of privilege support sales taxes. Japan introduced a sales tax in 1990 and it instantly wrecked the economy. They have increased it twice since then, and each time, it wrecked the economy. Someone doesn't seem to care that sales taxes wreck economies.

Then you don't know anybody who knows any economics, or anyone who lives in a jurisdiction with a substantial sales tax.

 

That is absolutely true, and absolutely unaffected by the fact that the change in question will be almost entirely natural, and the human-caused part of it will ameliorate those serious problems.

 

Actually value is driven up not by just the community, by buyers, buyers who can get good jobs, live in great weather, have excellent schools in walking distance. But that was not intentionally done by the community. It was just how economics works.

Where the community holds title, definitely it reaps the rewards of the market as I describe the market.

 

The FAIR TAX definitely is a lot more FAIR than our current bastardized system.

Sales tax taxes the purchasers. That is entirely fair. We are all purchasers of Government, Why not allow we customers to pick what we want from the corrupt Government?

 

So your intent is punishment. And of course you punish the payers who will be happy to pay the tax, but as a sales tax. But you will not have any of that freedom. Why not?

We have sales taxes in most of the states. I see prosperity there. But you won't allow that either. All you want is to know our incomes so we can be punished.

We would have around 45 states with wrecked economies if the fair tax ruined economies.

When we go to Sales Taxes, you won't need returns. You paid your taxes the moment you purchased. No more deductions to worry about. Fire your accountant. But you are loyal to the accountants it seems.
