The Christmas truce of 1914 remains a singular event in modern history. In following years superiors put a stop to such fraternization at Christmas among ordinary enemy soldiers. Yet it gives one hope for humanity. Maybe one day wars won't be possible any more because everybody will refuse to take part in the killing not only at Christmas but every day.

    Have a blessed Christmas everybody.

People love dying for a cause greater than themselves. They gain fame and glory. They become heroes. The incentives are too great to give up war.
