I’m lying about it now? Maybe you can point out the lies.

Nope! That is extrapolation on your part and a large lump of speculation

lots of things can be done with the money including getting them to research battery alternatives or investing in renewables or putting money into refining electrical grids by making them smaller interconnected units or or or

They might even start making money out of it

But why should I fund the Koch brothers lavish lifestyle because they could not be arsed to look at alternatives to coal?

Strawman arguments about lack of electrical circuits

And lols! Saying Jack Hays has some good resources but I think that is less lies than it is world view bias and not recognising the difference between research Nd opinion blogs

Coal is a dying industry and was before obama gave them a heal to their throat. Natural gas is just better. The alternative to coal will be natural gas conversions in power plants. Unless those get legislated against as well and the Koch brothers have their hands in natural gas as well so why would they be apposed to it?

That thread relied on a peer reviewed source. If that’s not good enough for you I’m not sure what is

Nope! Nether ultimate alternative will be battery arrays and either Vanadium redox or iron air because of the sheer amount of energy that can be stored

Climate change is such a threat, Obama and Gore bought beach homes. Until the fearmongering leaders on the left take it seriously, I won't either.

Wow! Oh! Please please link me to ONE a climate thread on this board that uses a peer reviewed source! Or at least one that has not cherry picked the peer reviewed article to a fare thee well, misrepresented the findings ) see previous post on this thread lols) or plain lied about the content. And please please do not even attempt to tell me that wattsupwiththat is “peer reviewed because I might have to give you an intense education session on critical analysis of research

You are right! "Pollution" is, indeed, NOT the same as carbon production.

And as I've pointed out a hundred times in this Forum for several years, CO2 makes up a grand total of 0.04% of the Earth's atmosphere!
Those who want to villify carbon dioxide as the end-all, be-all of toxic substances are not (NOT) doing anyone any favors! CO2 is an organic molecule without which life could not even EXIST on this planet!

Now, however much we disagree on many other things, we may agree that what we should be striving for is BALANCE in our environment, taking REALITY into account. Currently, we do have a considerable imbalance, and much of it may be due to factors over which we really don't have much control (i.e., the sun, meteorological cycles, volcanoes, etc.). But we CAN and SHOULD exert as much control as we can over human-caused, deliberate, wanton releases of enormous amounts of all kinds of pollution into the air and the oceans! And we can DO that, first, by having each country pay its own "fair-share"! :oldman:

    Whataboutism

Are you aware the the sea level rise is not uniform around the planet? Oh! And while we are here are YOU aware that Trump Does believe in climate change?

The gas companies had their side of the story and the alarmists had theirs. With both stories out there companies continued to manufacture cars, planes, boats, trucks and oil furnaces and people, including the alarmists, kept buying them. Has any alarmist given up the conveniences of the things I mentioned about? The people who shout the loudest about global warming are most often the largest users of fossil fuels and they burn those fossil fuels as they tell us not to. The big names are Gore, Kerry and many Hollywood celebs. How does Pelosi get from her home in San Francisco to DC every week? I doubt she flies in a balloon.

The irony of a thread about locking people up for global warming......started by an Australian....and Australia is the largest exporter of coal to be burned in Asian countries that don't give a dam about the environment.

    It's not "whataboutism", lol.

In fact, "whataboutism" isn't really a logical defense to an argument. It's a term coined by liberals to deflect from valid points that are raised.

Jack also posted an article(blog) about deforestation causing warming. When asked if world wide deforestation could cause warming he backtracked and said global greening would make up for it.

Well, smart people know the alarmism about sea level rise is bunk. Some of those people are alarmists and use you to make themselves wealthy over the fear mongering.

The response to those dare question the threads premise? Insults and grade school snark, the usual pattern displayed by true believers when it's pointed out that the glass they're holding up is neither half full/half empty but completely filled with just air.

yes I am aware of that and what percentage of a mirror is the silver backing that does all the work?

mutters to self “basic physics why do these people not look up the basic physics - surely they are smart enough to learn it? I mean I know it is complex but it is not THAT hard
Okay let us look at one aspect of this

Currently China is buying diplomatic kudos in third world countries By selling them cheap coal fired power stations
    https://theconversation.com/china-f...m-and-why-us-china-talks-are-essential-161332
    https://e360.yale.edu/features/despite-pledges-to-cut-emissions-china-goes-on-a-coal-spree
It even sold a coal fired power plant to Kenya - a nation sitting on one of the biggest renewable energy resources in the world (great Rift Valley - geothermal)
Now you can see where this is a problem but, if we say, go to Kenya and offer to fund new geothermal plants for a cheaper return than China is asking then…

Now approx one fifth of Co2 rise is through deforestation but it is not in the interest of third world countries to prevent deforestation so again how can we mitigate this?

Yes. The article is irrelevant to the topic. The warning it’s referring to is crossing the boundary. But they don’t know that man made climate change is causing it. Which brings me to your last question, no one knows.

I notice you’re into batteries and for good reasoning cause renewables need to store the energy they create for use when the suns not shining or the winds not blowing right? It’s a good point. Making these will help out quite a bit. However I don’t know the options so well. How many batteries will a solar plant need to sustain a city let’s say the size of LA for one weekend night? Have you read anything about that? I’m not criticizing I’m actually curious

Oil and gas are not the only products that make plastics and I personally, am not trying to put anyone out of work. But using less crude oil should be a priority. Especially for gasoline.

Don’t you love this Furphy? I mean where are the plants going to grow to make up for the loss of the Amazon? Whatever you do don’t look at Australia you can’t grow trees on a billiard ball

Okay it started as a bit of a joke between Elon Musk and the South Australian Premier but it has turned into one of the most lucrative things they ever did to the power grid
