    You might at least hypothesize what the ugly truth is. When Trump talks about witch hunting, this is the kind of thinking he's referring to. "We don't know what the truth is, but it's bad, and we need endless hearings to flush it out, the more painful for Trump the better."

    Medieval inquisitors thought exactly the same way.

    Dunno if that is true. An indictment is a very minor procedure. It is only the GJ saying "If" a thing was done by the Defendant, then that would constitute a crime. But you could have a point.

    The effort to analogue this situation to a criminal proceeding, like all analogies, will be flawed in some manner.

    But in terms of its impact, I think we are starting to see the cracks appear. McConnell just had an interview yesterday where he admitted that he could not do anything without the articles and that the recently released emails make the request for witnesses more likely.
