I know. That's why France has been on fire for months.

2/3'rds of a nations budget in expenditures is not a "safety net". It's a noose with a slow drop.

Everyone with half a brain knows that when other people's money runs out, the first thing the government does is take over the means of production.

It's a pretty stupid, pie in the sky and flying unicorns platform but comparing them to the Khmer Rouge is just plain silly.

There are some good and noble ideals in there. But like other utopian wet dreams all details are ignored, all timetables are unrealistically swift, all problems are downplayed. It is not going to happen, the players talking about it are minor and insignificant. Only the news media and the social media denizens consider it worth of chatter.

Some of what is in their program may evolve over a long period of time. Such as new and existing forms of clean energy overtaking fossil fuels. Tech marches on! So yes, someday the use of fossil fuels will be down to a very tiny percentage of what it is today.

Health care like they describe? Sure hope not. America needs a system more attune to its culture and size of population then the very small European countries, or Canada. Look to Germany, about a fourth or population and a capitalist, market based system superior to our own in every way at a fraction the cost. There is a country with a health care system that can potentially scale up to our much larger population.

One more thing, the failure in any political-economic system that would seek a classless, non-capitalist society is in not understanding simple human drives and desires. People tend to think up ways to better their own lives. Any system that wants them toe the party line, not strike out on their own in any way, that system must devolve into authoritarianism. It has always happened, there are no exceptions in hstory.

The opposite is also true, if you intentionally deprive people their basic needs, they will revolt an crush capitalism.

Nah. Better to stay and fix—for the moral man, there are somethings that oughtn't be run from.
Your responsible for you basic needs, not your fellow human beings; unless you think slavery is moral.

Yes, great societies require breaking some eggs like killing 10's of millions of people.

I'm sure if the US had 1.5 million people in detention camps based on religion you'd be ok with that.

Excellent post. Thank you for sharing. Conservative Republicans should watch the video clip you posted. It's enlightening. :)

You know, I vote for Republicans and I am against Democrats, I am against their social policies, their promotion of special privileges and the racism.
But I am at the breaking point because I see no light in tunnel, Republicans either extremely stupid or extremely evil.
At this moment no matter what Democrats do I will vote for Democrats.

How can you be responsible for your basic needs if basic needs are not accessible by legal means?
I bet you drive on the public roads, and use public facilities, I am sure you buy government bonds etc.
Why don't you build your own roads, parks, issue your own currency and use them if you so dedicated to your own responsibility?

What about radical capitalists? Would they be enlightened? And if so, about what?

I'm a Democrat, and was somewhat shocked by your post. I'm confused about your accusation that we (democrats) promote special privileges & support racism. I don't see either of those in myself as a person, or in the other Democrats I know personally. I don't see that in the Democratic candidates running for President now. Please help me (and other Democrat readers) understand what you mean by these assertions.

Frankly--and sadly--radical capitalists are part of the problem here, and no, I wouldn't bet they'd learn anything, simply because they would be resistant to learning anything. Conservatives sing the praises of pharmaceutical companies, saying they pay billions of dollars for research for new medicines to benefit us all, and deserve the profits they make with their successes. But the video I was responding to, revealed that the NIH (National Institute of Health), paid for the vast majority of pharmaceutical research in the U.S., not the Rx companies. Then those companies take the successful medicines & make a fortune from them without paying anything back to the NIH or to the academic researchers who actually made the discoveries. AOC was one of the main Congresswomen researching this injustice, & I applaud her effort & success. This practice of Rx companies robbing the public this way, & charging outrageous prices for discoveries they never made themselves, is disgraceful, unethical, wrong, and should be illegal.

    Identity politics is racism.
Denying people entrance to university because of their skin color is racism.

There is nothing I can do, once Democrats stop dividing people by color and gender, I will support them.
Right now it is not the case, it is anti white man party.

Identity politics is anti human, not anti white.
It is a Bolshevik ideology, let it rule and you will have millions in Gulags.
Right now only a minority supports it, but a noisy one.

How many were killed in the capitalist quest for profit in America? 90 million, that's how many.

Without profit your own life would be short, brutal and miserable.
Profit is the motive of all humans - Communists, Fascists, hunter-gatherers....
I don't know where you get this 90 million people from. Certainly disease felled
many peoples in the New World, but that was not intentional as no-one knew
    what caused disease.
And let's not stop at the New World. Yesterday in a science journal it mentioned
the complete "replacement" of the male population on the Iberian Peninsula
from "immigrants" from the Steppes, over 4,000 years ago. So let's blame Russia
and the profit motive - seizing land, farms, goods and women. And it was all
    quite deliberate.

I think their policies are more comparable to those in social democracies in other developed nations. And yes I disagree with them.
