I do love the arrogance and self importance displayed about Americans. Still wonder why Hillary lost?

You don't think that the Left has acted irrationally in this election? When you lose, you say "Congratulations" and move on...when you try to justify your loss with a thousand and one lame excuses, you can understand how someone might think you're throwing a temper tantrum and we all know how unattractive they can be, don't we?

 

What's shameful is an American that is ashamed to be an American or apologizing to anyone for being one. Look past your hate and see that there are millions of people out there that would LOVE to be American, Trump or not.

 

The biggest loser here is Trump.

Reagan was a governor and union leader before he ran for president. Trump sells condos and fake university enrollments.
And Schwarzenegger was a pretty worthless governor.

 

Well the bar is set pretty low when the likes of Jerry Brown can do it.

 

Bush (W.) and Obama had already turned the US into an international laughingstock.

George W. just could not be bothered to learn the English language well enough to use appropriate diction. Worse yet, he managed to wait until being interviewed at the Olympics in China (a few months prior to leaving office) before saying something smart in public. (Even people with Down Syndrome say more than one smart thing in eight years.) He even demonstrated extreme ignorance of history by invading Afghanistan. Even a cursory skimming of the region's history could have told him that NOBODY ever wins a war in Afghanistan.

Obama spent his entire first term apologizing for the US, acting like a cuck, bowing to a king, touching a queen, giving self-congratulatory narcissistic gifts, making empty threats and ultimata, and showing ignorance of and indifference to protocol. He spent his second term demonstrating that being weak and inattentive was neither accidental nor due to being new to the job, but rather that he actually is simultaneously that weak and that pompous.

Frankly, I don't see how Trump's crassness, grandiose bravado, juvenile tweets (as if there are any other kind), and petty competitive belligerence can be any worse.

The saddest part of it all is that these three buffoons actually represent with reasonable accuracy a cross-section of American society. Americans really do tend, on average and in general, to be as clueless and inarticulate as Bush, as liberally racist and weak as Obama, and as pointlessly braggadocious, as thoughtless, insensitive, and crass as Trump, and as graceless as all of them.

Had Hillary won, she would have admirably embodied the American tendency toward carelessness, hypocrisy, and an obvious but unconscious assumption of being above the law.

Welcome to the down side of representative government!

Instead of electing the best among us, we elect those who most embody our own worst failings as individuals and as a culture.

Even so, I am proud and grateful that we are us and that we are here. I am especially thankful that we have the perennial hope and optimism to keep trying, to keep banging our heads and hearts against history, and to keep voting.

As much as we all disagree, I wouldn't trade you all for anything.

Maybe even because we all disagree.
