I'm not aware of any such changes. The economy did improve from 2003-06 (housing bubble and increased government hiring) which boosted revenues. but as your chart below shows, even though the economy and stock markets were both significantly greater in 2007 than in 2000, relative revenues at their peak int he Bush years were still way below the level they were at Clinton last full year in office, before the Bush tax cuts.

The 2001 tax cuts also had an effect in 2001, because of the retroactive "rebate" program in which tens of billions of tax dollars were refunded that year.

What was the driving force of the bush economy? Any clue? Hint: starts with a H, and went bust a couple years ago.

Oooh... picky, picky! When the sun rises tomorrow, we will have been under the cloud of the Obama regime for exactly two years and seven months. This inept, incompetent embarrassment of a "president" stumbled through the Oath of Office on January 20, 2009... and it'll be a long, grinding, and thoroughly miserable time that lies ahead before we're finally rid of him, in January 2013. You like "facepalm"? Reflect on Obama's recent budget plan... (hint: there wasn't one....)

Until we greatly reduce our "entitlement" payments to 1)give the chronic welfare bums an incentive to work and 2) to stop taking money from young people to pay relatively rich oldsters' SS, and until we reduce regulation and taxation on business to the point where they can produce a product that will be competitive on the markets--it's gonna get worse and worse.:fart:

    So far Obama has blamed:
    Europe
    the internet
    Bush
    Congress
    The Tea Party
    Japan earthquake
    the Arab uprising
    ATM machines
    head winds
    the latest one:
    BAD LUCK

Hes blamed everything BUT his failed policies.
And now,for the 3rd time, hes going to try those failed policies AGAIN?
    More Stimulus
    More QE3 and printing money
    tax hikes
    more regulations
more excuses, and more blame Bush, more "I inherited this mess".
This man has blamed everyone but everything but HIMSELF.According to experts,we are looking at things to get worse, and if things dont get better by 2012,hes screwed. He is in denial or blind when he told us there is no threat of a double dip recession,BS,the warning signs are there. No incumbent President since FDR has EVER won re-election with a 9% unemployment rate .Its going to be Bush SR. again when he failed on the economy and lost to Clinton.
Hes failed, time for someone else to take charge.

We should learn to separate the sheep from the goats. Welfare is welfare, but benefits that have been earned because people were forced by law to pay into them are NOT welfare. The Social Security system is funded and viable through the year 2036, and by then nearly all the Baby Boomers will be dead -- what's the problem?

If you're seriously suggesting that the government should screw people who were forced by law to pay into SS and Medicare all their lives, and cheat them out of what they EARNED, you will be horrified to see what happens to the poor bastard who champions that kind of theft when we have the next elections. Baby Boomers vote!

Cut WELFARE all you like! Get bums off their asses, and don't let Comrade Obama extend unemployment benefits for a FOURTH year (to get him safely through the 2012 election). But leave Social Security and Medicare alone and find something to cut that SHOULD be cut. Thanks to both RINO Republicans and Socialist Democrats, there's LOTS of things we could cut that can be cut!

You do realise its quit normal to try and identify the reasaons why an economy is doing bad?

Are you denying the crisis of several countries n europe, bush policy, japan earthquake and the arab uprising (to take a few) havent affected the USA negativly?

The rest is usualy taken out of context.

    Wich helped the last time.

    Not obama.

    He cant really do that.

Yeah we need to deregulate banks so they can make more money. Worked fine last time.

The difference is with clinton: clinton had ideas, the current republican candidates talk about light bulbs.

Then why did Bush ask FredieMac to loosen up money to create what he called his "ownership society". Why did Bush encourage the Banking community to loosen up funds for what he termed his "ownership society" The only reason lenders were so leniant on loans was because they could pool those loans and then strip them apart turning them into securities which Wall Street Gobbled up. The lending institution never had to worry about the quality of the loans since they were sent off to Wall Street. You appear to be quite ignorent about the facts. And Remember all this happened and was encouraged under the watchfull eyes of the Bush Administration.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Bank of America Corp. is cutting 3,500 jobs, the latest sign that the banking industry is becoming smaller, simpler and less profitable.

Generally this wouldn't matter much, but with > 9% unemployment under Obama, every job loss matters to pro-americans.

Obama is deleting and removing jobs!

It's as if he hits the delete key on his keyboard and wealth disappears in the US.

From 2002 to 2007 under Bush, pretty much everybody who could walk and talk could get a job," "But those days are gone."
    Thanks Obama!

Within Bush's last 2-3 mos as president we had a banking, housing and job collapse. Bush went from 4.5 unempoyment to 7% by the time he left office. Subsequently credit has dried up and housing prices have deflated. Also huge corporations despite tax cuts and despite the fact that they have been making profits will not bring on new employees. Quit trying to Blame Obama for the Bush collapse.

No liberal Obama water carrier. What is normal is for a president to stand up and be a leader, find some common ground so we can all move forward to rectify this economic nightmare. Instead, he whines like a 5 year old blaming everyone but himself for being a limp dick president. That is how history will view this empty suit.

Only fools would think the depression of the 2000s is caused by one man. There are a line up of congressman/women to blame. Not to mention the fools who voted for Booooosh twice. Simplestines are what these predatory politicians prey on. And as demonstrated, there are a lot of foolish idiots who have no clue that they are screwing themselves.
