Manipulators generally take the time to scope out the characteristics and vulnerabilities of the victims (meaning those being manipulated). Psychological manipulation is a type of social influence that aims to change the behavior or perception of others through abusive, deceptive or underhanded tactics to advance the interests of the manipulator, often at another's expense. Such methods could be considered exploitative, abusive, devious, and deceptive. A few motivations of manipulators are to advance own personal gain at any cost to others; feeling the need for power, and a need to control. Some character traits of successful manipulators: Negative Reinforcement involves removing one from a negative situation as a reward for playing along with the manipulator. An example of this is Trump suggesting that if he is elected, the situations of his constituents will get better. There will be jobs, and a wall to keep illegals out, fair trade agreements, a better tax system, etc. Positive reinforcement involves superficial sympathy; the use of sad facial expressions, and the demand for public recognition. Trump is good at feigning sympathy for Middle America. He was never concerned about this group of people before he started his campaign though. All of a sudden, he wants to be their savior. Denial in that the manipulator refuses to admit to doing anything or saying anything inappropriate. Trump is constantly walking back things he has said that cause offense or are ridiculous. Many times he flat out refuses to admit that he even said them even though there were millions of witnesses. Diversion in not giving straight answers. Intimidation Shaming or using subtle sarcasm, fierce looks, and rhetorical comments. An example of his subtle sarcasm would be saying he, loves the undereducated. Playing the servant such as hiding a self-serving agenda as a service to a more noble causelike pretending he is running to Make America Great Again when what he really wants is to make Donald great again. Vilification of those the manipulator is trying to manipulate. Vilifying the judge presiding over the Trump U. case is a good example of this. Seduction which involves using charm, praise and flattery, and overtly supporting a group in order for them to lower their defenses, and give him trust and loyalty. Projection of blame back to others. Charm which is psychopathic in nature and includes expansive spontaneity which gives the sociopath a form of magnetism. Narcissism which needs no explanation in Trumps case. Charm offensive which is used by politicians to attract supporters by emphasizing their trustworthiness. People susceptible to manipulation: People who are dependent, immature, naïve, trusting, lonely, narcissistic, altruistic, and masochistic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_manipulation If you cant see Donald Trump in this OP about manipulators, you are probably blind.
This all seems to be talking about the lefty media. Try objectively reading through all that and plug in lefty media instead of Trump, and you will see what I mean. Objectively....
Same thing. I don't trust either one. Don Lemon seems less biased than Megyn Kelly in my opinion. I just plugged Megyn into your outline above, and it works great...
You see Hillary in all her seduction, and charm? Maybe all politicians are manipulators--and that includes Trump. But there are more of his character traits in the above list than in Hillary's. How do you think a man who had never given the middle class a second look came to be its savior? Read 1st paragraph.
Hillary and Bernie also have never given the middle class a 2nd look. One rode the coattails of her hubby and the other is an institutional, radical leftist. At least Trump worked to be as successful as he is. Hillary ruined the State Dept. and Bernie is an unremarkable congressman.
All politicians are just like actors/actresses...professional liars and con artists, just not as pretty.
I am not panicked at all. This really has nothing to do with me. I am not going to have grandchildren and therefore I really don't have to worry about the future, and which politician, or their taskmasters i.e. CEOs are going to ruin it for them by forcing them to compete with 3 billion Asians and 2 billion Indians for the last jobs; irreversibly screwing up the environment, and killing off all the wild animals. Besides the world is already ruined. I write negative things about Trump because I have this intense, incredible hatred for him. I hate his childish ways, his bragging, his name calling, his trash talking, his demeanor, his hair; but most of all, I hate him because he has so many people fooled. He has all the character traits of the antichrist. We know what we will get with Hillary--more of the same. But god only knows what we will get with Trump. Most people in the mainstream can't stand him, and if it wasn't for the fact that Hillary is going to be our next president and the conservatives can't stand it--he would not have a single backer in Congress. No one likes him except for his banker friends like Carl Icahn. To me he is like fingernails down a chalk board. He makes me cringe. Besides, if he were to be elected, he would turn into a clone of establishment conservatives within a few months. PS: Not a single world leader likes the man including Marine Le Pen.
Bernie has always worked for social justice for the working class. He also, five times, refused to sign gun control legislation. He talks the talk about control now because, like Hillary, part of the left thinks we should defend ourselves in a home invasion by having a conversation with the intruder. The other half want you to be disarmed so they will have all the guns. Bernie has never signed on to these trade agreements. He wants corporate America to pay its fair share, and not get tax refunds at the end of the year. I believe he genuinely cares about the working class, but little of his legislation ever got passed because Corporate America holds all the cards. He is a little to far left for me, but I think his intentions are good. They won't work, but they are good. As far as Hillary saying things that she thinks her constituents want to hear: You deplore it when she does it, but you make excuses or deny that Trump is a demagogue who says things just because he thinks his constituents want to hear it. Probably the only candidate that is not saying things to appease his constituents is Johnson--but he can't win. You're too busy backing the clown that is Trump to vote for Johnson, even though most of you Trumpettes have a libertarian streak in you. You could have all voted for Rand Paul and he would be the nominee right now, but you were distracted by the reality TV 'star'. I watched Black Hawk Down again last night and spent the whole movie wondering why we were even their. I was going to write in Rand Paul's name, because he is not an interventionist, but I knew he wouldn't win because the majority of the crowd was too busy adoring Trump. So I basically voted against Trump by voting for Hillary.
Oh yeah, the boogie man ceo's. Hillary was railing forth on CEO pay the other day, until someone pointed out that she makes more in one of her crappy 35 minute speeches than the average CEO makes in 3 years.
I see Hillary because I assume you were searching for the most negative, unqualified, lying individual. Hillary obviously out does Trump in that regard.
You just can't see through Trump's lies like you can through Hillary's. Trump really could shoot someone on Broadway and you would still vote for him. IMO, you are all delusional. People are really starting to wonder if we are not going to have a Constitutional crises if Trump gets elected. I think we will. He doesn't understand the Constitution or the way government works. As for picking the most negative things about him, I thought I was being nice.
