The liberal media in the United States has been trying to put a spin on the budget impasse in Congress, claiming the Republicans are threatening to shutdown the government if they don't get what they want. Ironically, just the opposite is the case! It is the Democrats who are threatening a shutdown if they do not get what they want! All the Republicans are saying is that they do not want the country to get into more debt, but are willing to negotiate. The liberal media claims the Republicans are threatening to default on debt payments, an absurd claim. It is the Democrats who would rather spend money than make the necessary maintenance payments on the debt. And if the Republicans don't let them borrow more money, they are threatening to not make those payments, then somehow blame it on the Republicans.

I think if you sit down and rationally think the circumstances through, focusing on the role of legislators in your system of government, both sides are in the right. The Republicans are using all legal means to live up to the central promise they were elected by their electorates on - limiting/getting rid of the ACA. The Democrats are using all legal means to do the same - to live up to their promises and fund one of the central positions they were elected on. You have a decentralized Republic. It's natural that representatives will disagree from time to time and find themselves at an impasse. Both sides are merely doing what they were elected to do, both within legal means, so I don't see what the problem is.
