But is one death a year in Michigan due to bullying a lot, or a little? Unless you compare it with other states/nations per capita, then you dont know it.

Also, this is not only about ending suicides due to bullying, but bullying itself. So even zero deaths may not mean perfection.

Don't give a rat's A** what law is put in place it wont work. If you don't want your kid to be bullied get him in the gym teach him to fight. Bullies are cowards and they pick on the weak don't be weak.

I was bullied in high school and my parents and I contacted the teachers and the principal and it just doesn't work because the can't always be there. They gave me all the usual BS like laugh it off actlike it doest bother you and avoid them but it doesn't work. Eventually my senior year I got get up with it and the next time I was bullied I beat the crap out of the guy. Sure I got suspended for 2 days but it was worth it and ironically I became friends with the guy that was bullying me.

The best thing to tell a victim is quit crying man up and confront. It is rather harsh but it is the way it is. All this reassurance and comfort and encouraging words doesn't do anything for them. You can tell a victim the bully is bad, wrong, and their opinion doesn't matter however the kid has to prove that to himself. No matter what the parents and teachers say the victims will see the bully as the bigger and more significant person and the bully will still look down on the victim. The victim needs to prove to himself and the bully that he is better and that is often done through confortation and violence. When the victim has proven to himself through his own actions that he is better then the bully will lose all his power over the victim.

It is best to prepare the kids for the challenges they will face and not face them for the kids because you won't always be there

Not every kid is going to be able to go to the gym and beat up their bully. What happens to the weaker children? Are they just out of luck? Is there no recourse beyond the physical for them?

I would actually tend to agree this is the best option for kids with the physical ability to do something about it. Unfortunately, that's not the atmosphere our kids live in. Doing something like that nowadays is likely to get you sued or arrested. That's not going to help a kid much more than putting up with the bullying. As parents, our hands are all but tied by the legal system in events like this, so we really have no OTHER viable option than to put the responsibility on the school faculty or home school, and I'm not under any illusions that I'll be able to educate my children better than five or six dedicated teachers.

Allot of people say this however I dont believe this for the vast majority of cases. This is accepting you fate which is bad. With the right mind set and determination I feel anyone can best their bully. Even if you can't get to a gym there are still ways for you to work out and become a beast. I went from death bed with brain cancer to amateur wrester boxer and Obstacle course racer. Teady Roosevelt went from being a frail desire risen child to one of the toughest SOB's on ever to walk the planet and he did it through shear will power. Now the victim may not have the will power and thats the place of the parents and school leader to promote prepare empower and motivate the child and get him to that point instead of coddle them.

Ofcourse there are a few exceptions like someone who has a handicap but I believe there is always a way to best the bully they just have to be crafty and play to their own strengths (which may be something like a quick wit or intelligence) but they need to conquer though their own actions not through the actions of an overseer.

If a victim wants to be free he needs to free himself and prove his worth both to himself and to the others. you will never be free if you are hiding behind a guardian all the time.

    its all about will power.
