Now that the Egyptians have elected a democratic parliament and the Mos Bros will be the majority in that parliament, the spokemen have been dicussing the thorn in our side Israel.

There is talk of putting the Camp David Accord to a public referendum. To let Egyptian decide on it which would be the democratic thing since the West is telling the rest of us in the world to follow their democracy. That will be decided in 2012.

Second they have stated they will NOT recognise Israel.
The Ikhwan will not recognise Israel and will not meet with any Israeli counterparts since they see them as illegitimate. Any negotiation will be through a third party.

There wont be any Mos Bros members flying to Tel Aviv to meet with any of the zionist regime like the fat two faces Gulf Arabs do.

The MB led government will still be the mediators in the joke of the Peace Process but they will only sit with representatives like Hamas and Fatah etc in Cairo.
Any Israeli contact would be through the president when he is elected if he chooses to have that contact.

While the Taliban are opening their office in Doha.
Hamas it seems will open an office in Cairo.

How are things in Egypt? I read that tourism revenues are down 30%.

Any progress yet on a Constitution?

Things in Egypt not good at all in my opinion.

Too bad it wasn't Constitution first, then Presidential elections and then the Parliament.

People see to be thinking that the MB are moderates, I am not too sure of that at all. We shall see.

Yes, tourism down by 30%- food prices up. Not good.

I know I sound like a broken record, but one doesn't have to reinvent the wheel.

The Libyan constitution before Khadafi guarantees equal rights regardless of tribe, ethnicity , religion or economic status..

These delays are NOT good IMO.

    I'm just asking

Who would have written the constitution and when do you think it should have been written if it was before the date set now? The SCAF are in power so you are in favour of constitution under SCAF then?

When do you think a president should have been elected last year? what month? who were the candidates? who was ready? who would you have voted for?

Yes tourism is 30% down but not as bad as Tunisia but still bad, but at least we are more diverse than poor Tunisia who only has tourism. They are really suffering now I think more than us.
The good thing about them is their leader was the corrupt one. Here we had many more problems than Tunisia with corruption. It has so many layers here unlike Tunisia. Every sector is affected. Mubarak left behind a total mess in every way. At least in Tunisia and Libya the leaders there encouraged education unlike Mubarak.

We have so many problems to solve after Mubarak and it will take time and to rush this would be disaster. We need to go slowly to fix everything that is broken. Margot this is your famous saying. Cautious isnt it.

There is no rush in my opinion.
We should go slow and take our time fixing everything.
Make wise decisions rather than quick fixes.
Too much pressure now to change things and that has caused so many mistakes and reversals of decisions. We need to slow down and stop listening to everyone outside and inside and take our time.
    Thats my opinion.

Yes.. you got me.. I am an advocate of caution.. I just worry. I have given a lot of thought about "Democracy" and the Arab Spring.

I posted a thread called Core Values of Democracy which is sort of love letter to the Arabs written by some guy at Harvard.
