I thought I'd start a movie thread and see how it goes..
would love all opinions and thoughts..
lets go with a ***** star rating..
since I'm retired I watch a lot of movies and I've always been a movie buff..as a kid I still remember how much" the wizard of oz " scared me..I couldn't sleep for weeks..:fear:
I'm a huge fan of horror flixs, action and special effects movies..
a good comedy, documentary, western or low budget movie done well is always enjoyable..romance movies I suffer through but when you're married it's something you learn to live with to keep your wife happy..
I've been with netflix for 8 years now and love the service since I live in a remote area and can't always catch new releases..it's a 40 minute drive to the nearest movie theatre for me..
I just saw "I spit on your grave" ****..very intense but the shock factor was fantastic..
    "Hugo"****..very well done
all texas chain saw massacre movies****
just watched "march of ides"**..interesting but to political..
    more to come..

I am an "Art House " aficionado and wouldn't dream of watching any of those things you mentioned .I am not a snob , just prefer an Aston Martin to a Cadillac
My first love is wrapped in the Italian Cinema of Fellini , Visconto , Antonioni et al plus the French Cinema , particularly La Nouvelle Vague .
I am sure that will excite dozens of people here !! If not hundreds

I was just thinking of starting my top ten favorite movies and saw this thread.

International House-with George Burns & Gracie Allen, Cab Calloway sings THE REFER MAN, W.C. Fields, Peggy Hopkins Joyce, Bella Lugosi, 1933 I think.

    Casa Blanca- Just wow!

Paint Your Wagon- Lee Marvin & Clint Eastwood sure could sing, lol.

    Armageddon-Bruce Willis, what a hero.

    Easy Rider-Made me a hippie.

Animal House-The horse in the Deans office scene.

Mash-Frank Burns, the epitome of the republican mind set.

Blue Velvet-Denis Hopper, makes the best crazy.

One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest-Ok, maybe Jack is the best crazy.

Awakenings-1969 was a magic time for me too.

What Dreams May Come-I hope my next life is like that.

Then there's the Marx Bro's movies, and Cheech & Chong, and American Wedding, and Porky's. I love a good laugh.

Push and Inception were great sci-fi's.

Although it was a visually attractive movie, the characters were totally unlikable. Mork and his wife were extremely self centered and didn't care a thing about their kids.

Cons don't like anybody that ain't a right-wing evangelical. So I understand your dislike. The republicans are the definition of self centered, and don't care about their kids. But the mother in the movie was so distraught over her kids death she had a nervous break down. Your ugly soul needs a reality check.

I have just returned from the drinks cabinet with a very large glass of plummy brandy , after reading your Post .
I appreciate your confessions but at my age and in my condition I cannot take too much philistinian comment .
    Sergio Leone .
    Not Federico .
OK . I love the Spaghettis . But when it comes to Rib Eye steak , Clint is not there . He is Rump .

I don't know how you drew politics into my comments on that movie, but you guys do say that the personal is political, so I suppose you think everything, even my opinion of a terrible movie, is politically based.

Actually the movie simply stinks. If I was Mork's kid, after leading him to hell, I would have left him there and told him FU. Worst, most selfish, self centered character ever.

If you think that was a good movie, your taste stinks. That's not a political observation, merely a personal one.

"What Dreams May Come" is available online from Netflix and I reccomend you watch it.

I also reccomend the film "Pi"- a low budget, gritty b&w film that was very well made.

I to am a movie fan. As of this date we have on hand in the house a total of 547 movies of all kinds. We would rather buy them so we can watch them whenever we want to as many times as we want to. We own everything from the disney classics to the star wars series as well as the complete Harry Potter series and everything inbetween.

    Rampart 8
    The Artist 9

Miss Bala was on my list of movies to see, however, some issues came up in February when it was playing at the theaters locally.

I might have been sold on Honey 2 at the age of 20 with a naked Jessica Alba, however, it would take a porn star to get me to see that crap nowadays.
