Our local news station (CBS-Channel 12 Cincinnati) has been advertising for several days, a special at 6 PM (EST) tonight about "glock switches". 3D Printed, costing less than 20 dollars each, mainly coming from China and often mislabeled as something other than a conversion device, these easy to install devices turn a Glock handgun into a machine pistol. Gun banning propaganda sources such as the Trace are trying to hype the alarm over these devices https://www.thetrace.org/2022/03/auto-sear-gun-chip-glock-switch-automatic-conversion/ They pretend that this makes one of the more reliable handguns (last time I checked, the G17 and its similar cousins is the most popular police and federal agency sidearm in the USA) into a bullet spewing device. Whether this makes it more deadly is rather dubious though I will PREDICT that the gun banners will claim that the only way to stop this is to ban semi auto magazine fed handguns

Ohh I know, years ago, pre 86 there were Auto sears you could buy and register. at one time you could legally own them without a stamp but the ATF changed that-around 81 IIRC
I mean a switch will turn a g17 into a selectfire capable weapon. Don't see anything wrong with possession of a selectfire capable weapon by a citizen.
The switches are illegal, and nothing to do with 'woke'. The switches are popular among democrat circles, as is gun ownership in general. The switches came out about 30 yrs ago, so its not exactly "breaking news".
well apparently news organizations think it's a major league issue and the 3D printers are making these things much cheaper and more easily available.
I'll never own a Glock. Good cop gun... they get free ammo. But Glock uses an "unsupported chamber" architecture which can deform brass when the round is fired. I reload and you can't reload with deformed brass.
That might be true on the 40s but I have reloaded thousands upon thousands of 9mm rounds that came from Glocks. I use a LEE die that undersizes the brass. I have shot 300,000 rounds with very few issues and since most of my brass is range brass, lots come from Glocks. Now if you a shooting USPSA 9mm Major that could be an issue in an unsupported barrel
Lets hope that they do. That's by far the most commonly carried firearm. All the 'I have guns but ARs are bad' people have a semi-auto magazine fed handgun, or 3. Its bout time they finally figure out where the logical conclusion to banning **** actually leads them.

Well, a local Cincinnati paper article from Mar 24, 2022, is not exactly same as "news organizations". Like I said it pops up in the news every now and then.
not a paper-a CBS affiliate with several million reached. And it may have been carried by other CBS stations
