    I wonder...

Back at the republican primaries, a lot of people were not really that keen on Romney. Now, you have people asking to pass around chain letters about his glories. It's a bit jarring because nothing really changed with the man between now and then, but now the man you really didn't like or know has the full support of the republican constituency because he is a Republican. Is there not something wrong here?

And Obama receives the black vote without effort. Merely because he's black. He's a familiar name and people will vote merely on familiarity. It is also a fact that he has two-stepped in his pledges from his initial campaign.

It seems that neither candidate is really the "right choice", but we feel compelled to vote for someone for some reason and I think that's one of democracies flaws.

I was wondering, then, would it really matter if we didn't have a President at all? I mean he is one man. It's not like he has something others don't. He is merely a focal point for American representation. I really doubt he makes decisions without the approval of many, and I doubt that during the presidency of any term that all the actions of the president originate from his own conception, but are generated in political think tanks...or wherever.

Would it matter if we didn't have a president, but simply a Congress and a Judicial branch? It seems less complicated, and we can do away with these uber-expensive elections.

The executive office was designed as a fail safe against badly designed legislature making it into law... It seems to me that it's not that the office of the president is unnecessary, but that everybody is treating the office as another level of the Legislative branch.
