I'm fine with that. I sincerely hope that Boeing and Airbus use one system only.

 

I don't think the door that fell off the Boeing plane recently had anything to do with metric or imperial.

 

That is certainly NOT the only problem Boeing has had.

Boeing uses Imperial measurements with drawings in inches.

I would assume their quality control on suppliers is strict about this.

 

Or at least it was.

Still, what do their drawing measurements have to do with anything?

 

Well, I would assume that the as-built needs to match the design.

For aircraft like that, it includes full details for all parts, including nuts and bolts, dimensions, metallurgy, test specs, etc.

Planes crash due to using the wrong bolts even though the difference can't be detected by looking at it.

 

Some countries demand you have a calculator to enter? Huh? Wht the heck is THAT all about?

 

So I guess you've never had any manufacturing experience.

Of course the as-built matches the design. That's what they pay all their engineers for. That's what they do all the pre-production testing for. That's what the company exists for.

Quality protocols exist all the way through the entire supply chain. The way the supply chain knows how to build the parts they supply is that their engineers work with the aircraft engineers to build exactly what the aircraft design and drawings call for. The quality protocols make as sure as possible that all parts meet all design standards.

The aircraft repair and replacement protocols are based on the designs that the aircraft engineers create for the entire aircraft.

Planes rarely crash at all and virtually never because the wrong bolts were used because these protocols are in place.

Building aircraft is serious business done by serious people. They're not the 3 Stooges playing games.

 

Faulty parts have caused numerous aircraft incidents and crashes, some fatal, with about 24 crashes between 2010 and 2016.

These have included military aircraft.

I'm not a mechanic. But, I am a private pilot who owns a pressurized airplane.

 

So as ever: It's American and therefore it's superior.

I don't think anybody has said anything like that.

We're different and there's no reason to change.

Over the last 6 months the USA has squandered a significant amount of world respect that we would like to claim.

 

The last 3+ years we've lost a whole bunch of world respect.

But there's not much I can do about Senile Joe Biden.

 

The last president who got respect outside the USA was Barack Obama. Joe Biden, this senile old man, is seen als pretty to far right, compared with European leaders, btw. As we'll survive four more years of this orange headed senile old wannabe-Jesus aka Donald T.

Tell me, please: For what should the world respect the USA (not fear, but respect)? The health care system? The rotten infrastructure? The understaffed schools? The sheer amount of homeless veterans? The politics to not protect Ukraine?

I have been raised with respecting the USA. But damn it's hard these times.

 

We are being punished by Mother Nature for the warm winter we enjoyed this year. Today, April 3, was a high temp of 37 degrees with light snow.

 

Personally, I couldn't care less for whether the world respects the US or not.

Although it would be nice if you'd stop taking our money, too.

I mean, man up and stand up for what you believe.

When I got up this morning in Virginia to walk the puppy it was 34°. After 3 days of rain it's supposed to be sunny with a high of about 50°. Hopefully the crew rebuilding our deck can make some decent progress.
