Looks like the white christianist party is becoming short on life, issa just announced he will be retiring and won't run

jumping the burning ship like rats

House Republicans are announcing they're leaving office at a significantly faster rate than any other recent Congresses, suggesting Democrats could pick up seats in the 2018 midterm elections. On Tuesday it was Pennsylvania Republican Bill Shuster, the influential chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Already, at least 29 House Republicans have announced they are retiring, running for another office or resigning outright. They're leaving from all over the map, from southern New Jersey to southern New Mexico.
Democrats need to pick up 24 House seats to retake the majority from Republicans, who've had control of the House since 2011.
Republican leadership has acknowledged it has a problem.

As you said, the rats are deserting the sinking ship.

Some of these Republican rats realize they’ve screwed over the moderates in their voter bases too many times since 2011. So, better to desert the sinking ship than be run out of office by a bunch of angry centrists.

There are other Republican rats who know someone from Robert Mueller’s investigation team will soon be knocking on their door. So, they will desert the sinking ship and start collecting their pensions before Mueller issues indictments for their many, many acts of corruption.

As always, thoughtful comments are welcome. Unfortunately, in the conservatives' responses to this thread we can expect their typical nonsense, alternate facts, denial, and off-topic silliness, to which any reply is a waste of time.

Trump campaigned on draining the swamp, and he wasn't just talking about the Democrat side. You will see some lowlifes slithering away with the regular rate of attrition. We'll see who takes their places.

RINOS leaving don't count. Don't count Flake. When either Kelley Ward of Joe Arpaio wins it will be a net gain.

Unlike democrats who have no real values or principles, republican voters are basically conservatives, which means that we have political philosophies based on freedom, liberty, and morality. So when you see some rino shmoe leaving, chances are he's doing it because he can no longer be a corrupt politician.

When Boehner retired, republican voters cheered the loudest.

California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa will retire at the end of his term, he announced Wednesday. That's 32 in all. They would rather not run with Trump occupying the White House.

    Do you blame them?

So, that makes 32 "rino shmoes" leaving. What does that say about the Republican Party?

The party out of power almost always picks up seats in the mid-terms.

I'd be surprised if the democrats didn't.

I am sure the left will tout it as the end of the GOP but its not, its just normal politics.

The same with whoever replaced Barton in my district. It won't be a Democrat. My area is deep red.

It means that the swamp is being drained.

Look, I understand that this sounds strange, but as I pointed out earlier, republican voters generally have a political philosophy to fall back on. The reason why we have a constitutional republic is because of conservative values, and the reason why the government is split up into three separate camps is because the framers knew that the state is a necessary evil, so they wanted the state to work against itself until such time that it needed to work together.

Unfortunately, the swamp hasn't been drained in quite some time, so yes, we might lose the senate because of that. That doesn't matter because those that we are losing aren't really conservative. They're... transvestites. They look and try to act like they're female, but they really aren't. They might as well just admit that they're authoritarian collectivists and go over to the democrats so they can stop pretending.

If you have ten girlfriends, and you find out that nine of them are men pretending to be women, would you care if they decided to leave you?

I'd sooner have Arpio executed than elected to a position in the federal government.

I think they see the writing on the wall. Keep in mind the first midterm is usually a referendum on the president. History has shown every president since FDR with the lone exception of G.W. Bush lost seats in their first midterm. Bush had 9-11 happen which united the country behind him and his party.

Obama lost 63 seats in 2010
Bush gained 8 seats in 2002 But lost 33 seats in 2006
Clinton lost 54 seats in 1994
Bush lost 8 seats in 1990
Reagan lost 26 seats in 1982
Carter lost 15 seats in 1978
Nixon lost 12 seats in 1970
LBJ lost 47 seats in 1966
JFK lost 22 seats in 1962
Eisenhower lost 18 seats in 1954
Truman lost 28 seats in 1950
FDR gained 11 seats in 1934.

Besides history, you have Trump with a below 40% approval rating. The Democrat's have a ten point advantage in the generic congressional polls and in party affiliation/identification. I would personally be surprised if the Democrats didn't take back the House.

I gave no idea what leftyism or rightyism has to do with it. Your conclusions are false because they are not substantiated by facts or logic. Just because you go off saying words such as Democrats have no values that does not make your accusations true. Just because your accusations are outrageous that does not render them true.
