you mean other than attacking a man and slamming his head into a concrete sidewalk. Martins rights ended where Zimmermans nose began

If Martin was as physically intimidating as Subdermal, for instance, suggests, I would bet on it.

Guns provide extra confidence in confrontations.

Sure. But that outcome would have been highly unlikely.

    No confrontation = nobody dies.

Less confrontational confrontation = nobody dies.

Just about every other scenario imaginable ends with nobody dying.

Bringing gun to unnecessary confrontation = much increased chance of someone dying.

Assault doesn't carry the death penalty, last I checked.

If it turns out Zimmerman's life was reasonably in danger, then fine.

That still doesn't change the fact that Zimmerman started the entire thing by playing cop. Without Zimmerman's overzealousness and apparent racial profiling, Martin would be alive.

Any racist can tell you that pounding someone's head to the concrete can kill them..

how do you know? Martin was a thug and an alleged drug dealer. If it wasn't the hispanic that killed him, it might have been another person (probably another black person). The black teenager was already on his way to living a thug life... and you know how short the life span of a thug life is.

If you really think about it, the hispanic saved society time and resources in having to deal with a living Trayvon in the future.

What part of he was appointed head of community watch in his neighborhood? A neighborhood that had break ins and TM was not supposed to be there that night, maybe he knew the comings and goings, jeez, if the neighborhood had been a victim of break ins and TM fit the description, so what? Prove Z just wanted to kill a black kid and harassed this "kid".

Uh-huh. Nice completely unrelated picture, too.

    Keep making that argument. Please.

Of course they do, and there's nothing wrong with carrying a gun exactly for that reason.

Guns breed respect more than they breed trouble, contrary to what many liberals attempt to claim.

Had Zimmerman been openly brandishing a gun, it is my bet that no physical altercation would have arisen.

Sometimes, people dying provides a greater lesson to society, and - in the end - prevents more from dying.

In this case, any thug casing a neighborhood has been given a great lesson on what the possible ramifications for so doing are.

Regardless whether Martin himself was a thug or not.

Does that rebut anything I said?

    Really?

"black kid in hoodie" is not a reasonable description any more than "fat white guy in SUV" is.

I never said Zimmerman wanted to kill anybody. I said his evidence that Martin was "suspicious" appears to have been entirely based on race, and that his confrontation with Martin was entirely unnecessary and avoidable.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with carrying a gun.

I do, however, think Zimmerman could turn out to be the poster child for the sort of person you *don't* want carrying a gun. You don't call 911 49 times unless a) you live in a *really* high-crime area or b) you have issues.

    Agreed.

So if a few innocent people die to prove a point, big deal. Is that it?

Zimmerman did what he was supposed to do.. He reported his 'suspicions' to the police.

Beyond that .. he was out of line.

I have reported peepers and prowlers and wife beaters.. I don't go after them with a gun based on UNwarranted suspicions.

Sure... Trayvon lived a thug life... and he died like a thug... Instead of pounding a hispanics head on the concrete, the thug could of just walked away, but he didn't....

Three problems with George Zimmerman’s self-defense claims from superbadbrutha's perspective:

    1) He's white.

    2) He's white.

    3) He's white.

There, I said it. We all know that this is what it boils down to. Even if Zimmerman is only half white and supposedly self-identifies as hispanic.

Tell me honestly that you would care about this if Zimmerman was black just like Trayvon. The truth is we wouldn't even be talking about this. Because there is no media feeding frenzy around a black Neighborhood Watch captain shooting a potentially innocent black kid. It can't be sensationalized into a race issue. You can't get Al Sharpton involved.

This whole incident was never about anything but an unfortunate set of circumstances from the very beginning. Circumstances that needed to be sorted out by the police in order to determine the proper course of action to take. It was the media that dragged race into, and it will be the media's fault if anything happens to Zimmerman or if riots ensue. And they should be held accountable.

The race angle is legitimate. By that I mean, if something like this happens because of race, it's not just a "misunderstanding". It's proof of extant racism and the fact that racism kills people.

So I don't fault anyone for thinking this was important based on the racial factor.

That said, race was only part of it. It also covers the armed vigilante question.

And as an aside, it's *highly* ironic for a Breitbart supporter to criticize "the media" for ginning up a misleading controversy.

So YOU think its a race issue?

Are you so easily swayed by media?

It IS a race issue when you have the "new black panthers" putting a hit out for someone. If its not a race issue, why the heck is Sharpton buzzing around this?

I don't know who the NEW black panthers are or how much influence they have.

Sharpton is always buzzing around "something"..

Does that impact your notions of justice?

The only reason this story made news was because some weirdos heard a "Zimmerman" killed a black boy and the racists said, a white killed a black because he had a hoodie on and the world went crazy until the picture of Zimmerman showed him as Hispanic. Then we find out the kid calls himself no limit n word on twitter, he may have been selling drugs, was just suspended for 10 days yet his parents let him roam the streets and the iron clad end all witness that TM is a victim was his gal on a cell phone. Its pathetic and sharpton buzzes around racial issues, remember when Michael Richards dared use the N word? He has to meet with Sharpton and talk about race relations, thats all Sharpton does.

FYI Rosie, Zimmerman followed and confronted the teen who had as much right to be in the neighborhood as Zimmerman. Claiming the ^^ is not true is nothing more than ignorant.

Maybe if you took off the white hood you might be able see the facts more clearly........ probably not. :frustrated:

This is a red herring. Martin was a stranger in that neighborhood; Zimmerman was neighborhood watch. Martin was a guest in the neighborhood, and should have answered Zimmerman's questions politely. He didn't; he chose to become offended.

Or "disrespected", as I'm sure he put it.

Ignorance is choosing to give a pass to Martin, when all he had to do to quell concerns about suspicious behaviour is declare who he was and what he was doing.

Do you have anything that indicates that he did that? Perhaps if he had done his civic duty, he would be alive.

What an idiotic comment. Open your eyes; you're part of the problem. Any aspect of society with propagates the notion that there is a racist behind every shrub and corner is culpable for the breakdown in civility in this society - and that's exactly what you just did.

    You should be ashamed.

Yeah, the kid should have been at home on lock down in his room for getting suspended for 10 days. Just because he confronted someone does not give that "kid" the right to go after Zimmerman.

There's nothing wrong with questioning someone on a street in your neighborhood. There's also nothing wrong with following a suspicious person on a street in YOUR neighborhood. Yes, a teenager visiting a neighborhood that has a recent history of break ins makes him suspicious. Sorry, but its true. Don't tell me you wouldn't give someone like that a second look if you lived a few houses away, because it would make you a complete liar. Now add in that it was his job to look out for suspicious people.

There is something wrong with attacking someone for exchanged words, whatever they might be. If Trey politely answered where he was visiting and even offered to show where he was going, Zimmerman would've had no reason to suspect him of anything. But if you have an immediate attitude, which Trey probably did, considering his history(YES, IT MATTERS), then things escalated.

If Zimmerman never got out of his truck, nothing would've happened, but its not illegal to talk to someone on whats essentially your street. If Trey was never suspended, he wouldn't have even been where he was, so the moral of the story. Stay in school kids and don't strive to be a gangster.

    You are correct, RosePop.

If it were not a RACE issue, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and the "New Black Panthers" would be nowhere to be found!

It is veru obvious The liberals and leftists are playing this tragic incident for all it is worth!

Will the irony in this remarkable case of victimization never end!

Jessie and his hatred for white people remind me a lot of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama's life-long minister of faith! ... Jackson talks about himself at these meetings. Once he told of his days as a waiter at the Jack Tar Hotel in his hom town of Greenville, S.C. Just before leaving the kitchen he would spit into the food of white patrons he hated and then smilingly serve it to them. He did this, he said, "because it gave me psychological gratification."

I don't like where this is going. It means if I'm walking to my car after a late night at work and an attacker who happens to be black attacks me I cannot defend myself for fear that people will consider it racial and negate my right to defend myself.

Someone the size of Conan the Barbarian probably doesn't require a gun for self-defense. Someone who is 130lbs and female does. You would tell me that after the firearm safety course, practice at the range, and a clean criminal record with no acts of violence that I have no right to equalizing measures of defense?

Or am I wrong? I don't want to put words in your mouth.
