Law abiding Americans should be given free guns to defend themselves against Thugs. Thugs who are caught with guns are dangerous and should be caught and if that is not possible, they should be shot.
My question would be... assuming we changed everything you mentioned above... how would that change 99% of gun crimes today? I'm not interested in solving 1% of the problems, I'd rather look at the 99% and try making a dent in those... because that will have more of an impact than me feeling good that I did something to create "change" that ultimately really didn't help anyone... but I'll feel better and thats the important part? come on... there is a difference between "common sense" changes, and real world results... if you could go through all the mass shootings in the past decade, please show me how many would have been stopped... and by stopped, I mean would have had zero chance of happening... not just delayed because they had to wait another month to buy a gun or something silly like that... I'm all for solutions that solve the problem, but solutions that make people feel good are pointless in the end...
