Listen. People get the government they deserve. Libyan rebels are savages, barbarians, sub-human, and Qaddafi was what he was. They will install a new regime and they will be worse off because of it...UNLESS we pull an Iraq, then MAYBE, just MAYBE we can help these animals evolve enough. But just helping them take down the regime and saying "good luck", LOL.

The odds of this becoming a success are against the Libyan people without continued US/NATO support/aid and you know it.

 

Interesting to hear someone else express this. I was thinking along these lines while watching the 5-6 videos. But to me it was only similar in regard to how most of us envision Christ's treatment before being crucified. The man was no Jesus though, that's for sure. I'm not trying to justify the actions of the rebels either, in fact I think this is a bad way to start things off. At least Egypt had the decency to give Mubarak a trial, the same should have been done here... too late though.

 

Libya has a good chance of succeeding because they have a small population, oil assets and 19 years experience of equal civil rights under King Idris.

They had a Constitution .. the likes of which THEY CHOSE from 1951 thru 1969.. You can read it on line.. Start with Article 11 of Rights of the People.

They will use Khadafi's frozen assets to rebuild and repair the damage.. while foreign investment is ready and willing to develop industry in Libya.

The Libyans are NOT savages.. They are descended from Berbers and Arabs.. There is an Itlian influence that developed before Independence. 80% live near the coast.

How did YOU like Libya when you lived there?

Dutch Shell, Hess, Marathon, Occidental, Conoco Phillips, BP, TOTAL, ENI and Synopec all had active oil operations in Libya before the Arab Spring.

They will return as soon as things settle down and resume production.. They hold profit sharing concessions that go to Libya's treasury.

 

We should treat them how Libyans would if they were their enemy, since they're ours...

Qadaffi was taken down because he took off his shock collar and decided he was going to kick all the foreign oil corps out of libya and void all contracts.. he was going to start selling oil to the Chinese Russian firms and draw up contracts for future trade deals.

The government that is allowed to form in Libya will be a puppet government that will be indebted to USAID the IMF and the World Bank. The leaders will renew and enforce the oil trade contracts with Italy Germany and France.

The Libyan people have about as much chance for prosperity and progress as the puppet government we help install will give them.

This bullshiat about saving the Libyan people from Qadaffi is a pathetic joke believed only by the most gullible of idiots. When Saddam was gassing the Kurds and stomping out rebels in Iraq.. we didnt give a shiat... in fact.. our government under Reagan secured U.S backed loans for U.S commodities and pressured the E&I bank to loan money to Iraq.. made loans available to Iraq through the IMF and USAID and sold Iraq military/dual purpose vehicles. Tghis was above the table... no telling what went on below the table.

Past actions show that the U.S Government is indifferent to what a foregn government does to its people and will even assist that government in keeping power as long as that government plays by the rules when dealing with U.S interests. Anybody who thinks that the Libyans will escape this cycle of exploitation are fools. This is going to be Iraq 2.0. It will take time to develope.. but unless we as a country get off our Corporate/government crack-like addiction to oil, it will happen again.

P.S.. Qadaffi was no man of peace. He funded terrorism and like somebody posted earlier.. Live by the sword and die by the sword.. He got owned by the most successful terrorist organization the world has ever known.

But, we didn't initiate the war in Libya.. The Libyan people rose up against Khadafi.. and he was slaughtering them with his mercenary troops.

Currently the Libyans are praising NATO for the aircover they provided (without losing a single American life or getting bogged down for a decade)

This was about the control of oil.. nothing more. There was little damage to pipelines and refineries.. Libya's oil sector will be up and running by the first of next year.
