Of course anyone who has read my posts concerning the genetic makeup of the population would know that I whole heartedly believe that the White people of the North are the result of an evolutionary jump, which is why first the Vikings, and then the English were able to dominate the world.

When I first saw the video of George Floyd being killed, I didn't see yet another instance of the police killing a Black man, I saw a video of a police officer casually killing a man. But then I've seen such things plaly out repeatedly, things small and large. I live in a mostly White area yet I still see the police treating people badly. It has always seemed to me that within the police ranks, the goal has not been to safeguard the neighborhood, but rather to see how many people they can charge with something.

These protests, more than anything have brought out how authoritarian the consevative mind set is, even among Libertarians. It is a little difficult to argue otherwise after having excused, cheered on, and asked for more police brutality.

It may end up taking some pain in these cities to learn that defunding(drastically) or dismantling police departments is folly. Some of the solutions that for some reason are getting swept up all under the "defund" banner aren't so bad. Additional mental health workers and more support for social programs could be beneficial, and indeed has been shown to be in some places.

But reducing the ability of a police department to respond to crime, or dismantling it altogether, are just complete nonsense. I'm truly sad to see such an important moment and important movement get caught up in such stupidity.

 

I think it is only the right that is trying to make defund police an effort to get rid of the police.
