Intellectuals listen to many sources of news that they agree with and don't. I watch the liberal CNN, the more conservative Fox, and browse google news.

Most of the left wing just sticks to their safe space and listen to MSNBC or NPR and nothing else.

A public broadcasting service which can operate as a non-profit is the only outlet to enjoy music and arts and education and other interests which are not determined by Nielson Ratings and advertising dollars! IMO public broadcasting should be the last place in the budget to look for deep cuts and/or defunding...

I myself like a lot of their programs and if they would stay out of politics I would be more in your camp. As is they are a far left highly politicized propoganda machine and I resent funding that

Most PBS stations serve a university. The public broadcasting company serves local communities the way the the FCC used to require all media to do before Reagon and the criminal democrats destroyed the law . Now two corporations own virtually every media outlet in the country . Every news paper every radio station every TV station. That is oligachy it's not capitalism. People who champion capitalism have no right championing the demise of PBS. PBS is the only form of children's educational media.
    I listen only to PBS.

In my state, they will bring in the party leaders. Although, never heard the governor. I'm gonna guess he's declined.
It's only slanted if one is out in the fringe to begin with. And it seems there is no hope for them.

Then we will have to agree to disagree. As we both are finding the "worse" problem if different places. Doubt we will change our minds.

Of course. Not for profit, objective, bias free news programs found on NPR go against the Trump doctrine of nothing but praise for Donald. It is one media outlet he can control via killing it.

True, but it is one hell of a tricked out skateboard. As for PBS and NPR, since all they do is push the leftist agenda let George Soros fund them.

That not necessarily so. For instance if they ever see or hear actual truth being presented by the Left-Allied Mainstream Media, they will probably be quite happy about it. But it has to happen first.

Faux journalism has little truth in it. For it is used intentionally against the person they hate, trump. I think trump could live with the truth, its the overt bias and partisan driven attacks from people who call themselves journalists that he cannot tolerate, for he sees it as part of the corrupt system that has left working americans in the dust. Yep those elite profits are so fat from exploiting poor people for slave labor, that they knock up a dust when they hit their offshore bank accounts to get out of paying taxes. CNN did some investigative journalism along with the rest of MSM when it came to the Panama Papers. Well, truth is, they did not speak truth to power, and mostly ignored it. And you have the nerve to say truth and MSM in the same sentence?

Not sure when it happened, but NPR is highly and clearly a left wing biased news outlet. They seem to think the US thinks just like they do. I listen to some NPR radio and its modern liberals from wall to wall. It is like they do not think they are biased, that being to the left is somehow the only way to think. But they fully support the neoliberal, neocon status quo. Open borders free trade globalization, which is hollowing us out and devaluing work.

The cost of NPR is also the cost of one F-35 fighter that they can't fly in the rain..

That said, I have no problem with cutting off the PBS/NPR subsidy. If you are serious about cutting spending, you cut everywhere you can.

Just for the record, as a moderate who leans toward financial conservatism, I am against cutting off the endowment for the arts and humanities.

Should it be audited and perhaps reduced in total funding, probably.

A lot of good comes from the programs those funds support.

Lets set aside that erroneous statement and consider the concept of "equality" for a moment.

NPR is unabashedly Leftist, often radically Left at times.

Would it not be "equal" to also have a full own Right aligned version of NPR?

If public tax dollars are going to fund NPR, should they not also fund Breitbart?

Would that not be the very definition of "equality"?

    Yea ...now your tunes changes.

You've obviously not watched much on NPR or PBS, for if you did, you would better understand why it's so important to society to be able to present to the public myriad things that are not decided by Nielson ratings and profits. I'm guessing you also don't frequent museums or the arts. I'm also guessing you are ill equipped in the sciences yet you have such disdain for things like NOVA?

I also doubt you can identify a single NPR/PBS program that is truly biased??

This is what the snowflake left is all about. Curl up on the ground and accept the fact you're what's wrong with the world. The sooner you die the better for everyone.
