Yet all are just that deterrents, a drone is not going to stop people from crossing, the border patrol cannot see everyone crossing, and a wall will not stop some one from crossing given enough time. YET all three, wall delays, drone sees, border patrol stops would work in concert. This has always been the plan from both sides. Yet for some reason BOTH sides are fixated on the barrier when both have agreed at some point there should be one.

The House and the American people will be "hurting" Trump and his minions from now on.

Don't worry, there's plenty of time to implement e-verify.

Everyone knows that even if you do all of them illegal immigrants will just enter the US from orbit.

Let's build a 30 foot wall around your house and see how effectively you can get in and out.

I would never try and dismiss anyone who is the victim of crime, but don't flat out lie and boost up crime figures to try and get something you can't justify that we really need just to make talk radio show hosts happy.

Lie? Just because the media feeds you pablum doesn't mean you have to follow like a lemming. Again, you know little about the border apparently.

It certainly shows the mindset of some of them — and why he felt he could “shoot someone in Times Square” and not lose any supporters.

He basically said his supporters have abandoned any morals they claimed to have had and people didn’t just agree — they applauded.

Trump could tell you that Mongolia was invading America tomorrow and you would hide under your bed. His own Departments are showing that his numbers are a lie. Now run and tell that.

Every expert I've heard interviewed on TV--even Republicans--agree the wall would be the least effective and the most expensive way to go. I am not opposed to small sections of wall in remote locations if that's helpful, but I agree with Democrats that the physical wall should be the smallest component of any successful system of border security.

How about we use those motion sensors, lights, video cameras and border guards collectively to become the security system and skip the concrete wall? Why pay for something that's not needed?

Now, you're trying to justify the wall based on crime prevention. But, you want ME to do your work!

The catch with the crime prevention direction is that the expenditure on the wall is not justified on that basis. The next billion we spend on crime prevention is best spent within our system of justice inside the USA.

Maybe we could start ensuring that rape kits get analyzed!

The mask began to slip last summer. The Cohen and Manafort things shook a lot of people up. People began to worry more about Trump's erratic behavior. So have the constant running wave of turnover, sudden policy announcements, not so quietly retracted later, continuing signs of rampant corruption took their toll.

All, except the right wing reactionary fringe. But these very same people went down with the ship as "Bush dead enders" too.

They're always the last to admit it,

Because you would need a barrier to slow them down. Most of those places are very desolate and there is not necessarily going to be a agent in the area.

He made a promise to have wall built with Mexico paying. He is breaking a promise when he signs the very bill, he now asks for.

Perhaps one might want to delve deeper.

    https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/oijdv5i5r9/econTabReport.pdf

Question 8 Party trusted with border security When it comes to border security, which party do you trust most? 31% Republican Party 29% Democratic Party 26% Neither

Question 11 Preferred approach to budget negotiations If you had to choose, which approach would you prefer that members of Congress take when negotiating a federal budget agreement? Lawmakers should compromise to reach a budget agreement, even if it means sacrificing some priorities that they believe in, 62%. Lawmakers should fight for the priorities that they believe in, even if it means risking a government shutdown 38%

Question 22A. Amount of blame — Democrats in Congress How much do you blame each of the groups listed below for causing the shutdown of the federal government? 41% A lot, 23% A little, 23% not at all.
Question 22B Amount of Blame - Republicans in Congress? 40% A lot, 37% A little, 12% not at all
Question 22C Amount of Blame - President Trump? 53% A lot, 16% A little, 22% Not at all

Comment: Although President Trump gets most of the blame, both parties in congress haven't escaped. 53-41-40. Interesting the not at all is equal between Democrats in Congress and President Trump.

Then perhaps your most important question. Question 23 Most to blame for shutdown Who do you think is MOST to blame for the shutdown of the federal government? Democrats in congress 35%, Republicans in congress 4%, President Trump 48%.

Comment - That's about where it should be. Trump vs Democrats in congress is where this battle is waging. Republicans in congress are just sightseers. 48% Trump 35% Democrats.

Here's another important question that ties into question 11. Question 24. Needs to compromise Who do you think needs to compromise? Democrats in congress 41%, republicans in congress 19% President Trump 49%.

Comment - an 8 point difference between Democrats in congress and President Trump isn't all that much. Again about where it should be in my opinion.

I'll stop after this question as not to make it a book. Question 24. Needs to compromise Who do you think needs to compromise? Democrats in Congress should agree to President Trump’s request for $5 billion to fund border wall construction, 24%. Democrats in Congress and President Trump should agree to more than $1.6 billion but something less than the full $5 billion request 19%, President Trump should just accept the $1.6 billion Democrats had already agreed for border security 40%.

comment - This did surprise me, compromise at 19%, I expected that to be the highest.

But this leaves me wondering, is that compromise of 1.6 billion still on the table? If it is, that would be my choice.

Well. How can one watch the president of the United States addressing National Security, thinking he’s watching mentally-deranged trainwreck about to implode?

    Only the mentally-deranged trainwreck :nana:

We will have to build the wall before we can find out who actually paid for it.

I guess when slick Willy Clinton saw fit to veto a budget in 95 that was somehow different.
