In theory, this should be driven by the motive to protect the environment to a reasonable extent as informed by scientific research. within the above, understood that we cannot reasonably undertake every effort to protect the environment. But, to the extent we choose not to protect the environment..., there should at least be a clear case made as to why any given regulation would be economically unsustainable. My problem with Trumps attitude toward deregulation is, first, that he denies accepted science in order to pursue an agenda of deregulation. And second, that he actually does not make an economic argument that regulations are unsustainable. He simply opposes every regulation on principle
I'm pretty sure the Trump administration has already outlined their goals for reducing energy cost, which (of course) comes from regulation reduction. But your narrative works too...
Obviously, every regulation has some cost. So if simply reducing cost is the objective... no regulation is sustainable. that said, has trump made the case of how much cost will be reduced and how that cost is burdensome or unsustainable. If he has, I have not heard it
Fair enough. The Trump Administration has not laid out how much we can expect to reduce overall energy cost due to these reductions in regulation. However, this is generally the argument, contrary to the narrative of deregulation first, environmental protection second.
I just got back from Thailand And I can tell you that they could really use some regulations Sidewalks are hazard zones when they are not used for parking or sidewalk vendors there is almost no way to safely cross the street... no lights, no crosswalks, and no idea of pedestrian right of way. Lots of vehicles driving around belching out clouds of smoke into polluted air The river was pretty much an open sewer Basically no street cleaning
Which accepted science? The original mandate was accomplished years ago and we have cleaner air and water because of it. If you are talking about the over regulation that came after that’s a different story.
