    Well you used an odd vehicle to deliver that point. An untrue statement. I’m not sure the current claim is any better.

    90% of deaths in the conflicts you are talking about are caused by small arms. It’s hard to pin down numbers, but it seems a large percentage of these weapons are of communist bloc manufacture. For example, AK’s outnumber M-16 type weapons at least ten to one. Possibly by much more than that. Then you figure most of the M-16 types and other NATO source arms are sitting idle in armories rather than being passed around in Africa, the Middle East, etc., your theory falls to pieces.

    Just because the US sells more arms by value than any other country doesn’t mean they are being used nefariously at anywhere near the rate as arms from communist sources.

    What we are left with is hyperbole surrounding the recent debacle with ISIS and Syria. Statistically insignificant in the grand scheme, but great anti American fodder for reporting.

    If you can find better hard numbers I’m happy to reconsider my conclusion.
