Seems to me war, whether hot or cold, serves no long term purpose. It baffles me to see the hard left so enthusiastic about that prospect. My guess is most who hold that line have no clue what the details are, and are just bitching because that is what they are being told to do.
We would expect a responsible President who actually represents the United States to not go to this meeting in the first place. There was no agenda. Nothing was agreed to. (at least Trump didn't talk about anything they might have accomplished). There was no real reason for this meeting at all, other than the fact that Trump wanted one. But the Russians clearly dominated the meeting. That was clear in the opening remarks before the press conference. Putin recited a laundry list of items his country was interested in, while Trump blabbed on about his election and denied his own intelligence agencies. Later, when Putin was asked whether he had anything on Trump, he gave a long, evasive, and circuitous answer, when a simple "no" would have done, were it true. Just the way Putin answered that question made Trump looks small and weak, and Putin knew it.
