I meant that Bluesguy sounded like he thought conservatives were not bright. Only intellectuals watched PBS. I don't think that.

Ah ok. I understand now. And I agree. PBS appeals to a broad spectrum of people, but I think that the general political spectrum in the US has shifted so far to the right that the Centrist notions of PBS are now seen as 'LIBERALLLLLL' when they are more about education and understanding of the world.

You are probably correct. But why does the government feel the need to fund a television channel, when we have hundreds already available without using tax payer money?

Because when your motive is profit, you have to alter your presentation choices. Look at what TLC used to be, and what it is now for example.

I fail to see how the other 100 channels doesn't provide the needs adequately. Remember the days when we used to have just 3-4 channels back in the 1960s?

Again why is the Federal Government involved in supporting a TV channel?

Ted Turner created CNN,made billions out of it.Doesn't need a federal subsidy, to start the channel.

So far as I know, PBS doesn't own any of its stations. The actual stations are owned by state/local authorities, universities, and community organizations. PBS just sells them the content that the stations choose to purchase, often at less than the actual cost to them which is where their kick-in comes into play. The loss of the government money just means the state/local governments, universities, and community groups will have to pay more for its programming.

He's peed on every bed those two have ever slept in. That's why he wanted to become President, to piss on Hussein's old bed.

After that long faced donkey we had for 8 years, Melania looks like Snow White.

Trump can always get all the diapers he wants from Hillary.

I didn't refer to a queen, but Obama has been known to be called such.

Have....You watched TV at all in the last 10 years?

It's utter garbage. Lowest common denominator crap designed to bring in the largest and least intelligent audience possible to shill ads for more crap.

And the Fed Govt doesn't have to pander to provide share dividends to stockholders. They can provide educational and informative programming that might not Garner as many eyes for less (if any) profits.

I don't hate art, I've spent a weeks leave visiting the Louvre in Paris. I love art, but artists can work and do their art, just like every other human being that has a hobby... I hunt, fish, restore cars and collect antique firearms...All while working 60+ hours a week...If it something they love to do, they will make the time.

Until 3 months ago, didn't watch TV for about 5 years, didn't miss it then. Now I watch some TV after I got an Amazon Prime set up for Christmas, can watch many good shows back to the 1960's,as a member of Amazon Prime. Very selective on what to watch as most shows are indeed bad.

There are plenty of educational TV and informative programming that is NOT part of PBS,surely you have noticed this from among the 100 + channels available?

Ok, but that still doesn't explain why the FEDERAL Government needs to be involved in funding "public" TV.

The Federal government doesn't need to be involved in a lot of things the federal government is involved in. What they do do well is gather up funding. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting was created by an act of Congress, is funded by Congress, and passes most of its funding downstream to NPR/PBS

Yeah, let's hear it for Trumpvision, and the Daily Trump. Seems like he'll be following Putin's lead in a bid to control all media to his advantage.

Oh right, it should just be a hobby! LOL at this nonsense. Great artists did not do it as a "hobby". They often worked on their art every waking moment (when not drinking absinthe while discussing art with other artists).

Educational TV? LOL!!! No there is not. Look at the History Channel... shows about aliens. Discovery Channel... isn't that now all reality shows? There is CRAP on those 300 channels. Britain has the BBC and so gets better programming than we do. Right there is the proof that this idiotic cut-everything attitude of Trump (who acts like Reagan on crack).

If Trump is cutting OFF funds for govt sponsored TV, how is he trying to take over anything? Not funding media means govt. LOSING control. You kind of have it backwards. And considering have leftist most media is, you should still be VERY happy.
