    Let me see if I am getting the gist of this thread. There are roughly 12,700 new ventilators available in the United States Strategic Stockpile at this moment,(https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/18/business/coronavirus-ventilator-shortage.html) and presumably a few hundred available on private markets since medical equipment is bought in a just in time basis. Ventilators are manufactured overseas because the tax on new medical equipment that was imposed by Obamacare. Out of that 12,700 ventilators available, the State of New York believes they are entitled to 30,000 to 40,000 of them. That leaves, and I am doing the math here, exactly zero ventilators left for the entire rest of the United States. The Governor of New York is asking Trump to enact the Emergency Defense Appropriation Act to manufacture 30,000 to 40,000 new ventilators in a manner of a few days to help the State of New York place their wants above the needs of the rest of the nation. Never mind that it would take years to get the permits to build a new factory, years of construction to build a new factory, years to get medical grade manufacturing equipment, and years to get FDA approval to approve the equipment. But given all of that, the Governor believes that Donald Trump can magic up a working factory that produces 30 to 40 thousand ventilators in the next day or so for the state of New York alone and the hell with the rest of the country. Donald Trump does not engage in this fantasy scenario so therefore Donald Trump believes in death panels. Did I miss anything?

    The United States has six times the population of Italy. There would be a disproportionate death toll in the United States if the death toll is greater than six times that of Italy. That would seem to me to be the fairest, most honest way to do a comparison.

    That pretty well sums up the reality here, in a nutshell.
    The left is to blame for blaming Trump for everything, seeing nothing realistically, and allowing their obsession to dictate their complete view of the world.
    There's nothing rational about doing that.

    The math is that the majority on the left (Technically more than 50%) follow that line of thinking, and that in the election, Trump won the majority of electoral votes (that is again as in more than 50% of them) and the left lost. That's rational, and mathematically correct.
    What's not rational is that the left thinks that whining entitles them to a do-over because the world owes them peace of mind and satisfaction, no matter how wacky they get.

    The novelty of this wore off a couple years back. It's still like watching a circus, but the same dumb act gets played over and over by the same clowns, and it is no longer entertaining.

    If You want to destroy YOUR stuff, on the exaggerated projection from a Mayor who is on record stating America was never great, then DO so. Sell everything you have, go buy some ventilators, toilet paper And whatever else He tells you to do.

    Meanwhile, I will protect my property, and my “stuff” and exercise my 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendment rights and defend the Constitutional Republic if necessary.

    If any of your kind attempt to cross the property line fence with the no trespassing sign , Your risk of death will be 1000 times higher than from a virus

    Of course if you had been accurately reading the post instead of fantasizing, you wouldn't have seen anything of the kind- because it wasn't there or even implied in any way.
    SO- You DID NOT see what was there, but YOU DID SEE something that was not.

    Trump said they are manufacturing them, as we speak. That tax was ended quite some time ago, on medical devices. Trump did NOT say we don't have that many, he did not say that is impossible, he did not say we don't have the factories.

    He said he FEELS that we wont need that many. And 4000 is how many he sent, so, he FEELS that 4000 is how many they need.

    Trump sent 170 ventilators to California, all broken. Calif sent them all out to fix.
    I don't know if he sent any that actually worked. As far as your rules to be able to use, BROKEN ventilators surely break rules.

    The estimate is, approx. two million dead folks, if this virus follows present trajectory. I would call that disproportionate. At least tragic.

    I watched Fox and friends, and Brian Kilmeade asked the Trump dude, how many Ventilators NY was given, he said, we gave them EVERYTHING THEY ASKED FOR. He finally said 4000 ventilators, as Brian shook his head, and he continued shaking his head as they cut the guy off.

    EVEN Fox and Friends knows this is a bunch of liars. You should have seen him shaking his head.

    The population of New York State is estimated at 20.1 million. The population of the United States is estimated at about 350 million. This means that the State of New York makes up about 6% of the population of the United States. Since there are 12,700 ventilators available, shouldn't New York State's allotment be six percent of 12,700, or 762 ventilators? Trump feels that New York's share of the available ventilators is 4,000 or 3,238 more than they should be entitled to based on a fair apportion based upon population. I am not seeing how getting 3,238 more ventilators than you are entitled to is somehow a death panel? Perhaps you overstated your case by a wide margin.

    Finally, medical equipment manufacturers left the United States because the cost of moving their manufacturing facilities overseas was cheaper than staying in the US and paying the Obamacare taxes. You are correct, the tax was repealed when it was revealed that the tax actually lost revenue because companies chose to flee, rather than pay the tax. Those companies never came back for the cold, hard fact that moving your factory once is half as expensive as moving it twice in order to come back. Those manufacturing segments may be lost forever.

    Trump is negotiating with the lives of 36K people. I bet that if Cuomo agrees to say publicly "what a great job this President is doing!" he'd get the ventilators he needs by the next day.
