In 1982, Ronald Reagan issued an executive ordering a group of business leaders headed by J Peter Grace, to search all existing government programs looking for waste/savings. I believe these business leaders worked for free. In 1984 they issued a 21,000 page report, known as the the Grace Report. They estimated the U.S. could save $425 billion over 3 years. It was presented to congress and promptly forgotten. Perhaps we should dust it off and take another look.

That only works up to a point. At some point given the issue, you'll need to speak with a live body.

What Obama and Hillary says is absolutely worthless, history proves that.

So the number of "jobs" that Obama "created" are worthless after all.
Thanks for finally admitting his failure

You know without a doubt their are scores of worthless lifetime moochers that haven't lifted a finger to do (*)(*)(*)(*) to further themselves. But go ahead and undermine your credibility. Say it's not true

Meanwhile, let's throw $900 billion annually (the military's real annual budget) at the military industrial complex. You know, to keep America safe from invading Iraqis or ISIS or whoever the latest boogeyman is. This country has crippled itself with militarism. Another useless, trillion dollar invasion literally means nothing to Republicans, as long as they have their guy in the White House. Certain Americans are making a fortune off our taxpayer-funded wars...But hey, the military gets our first dollar. And our last.

The government shut down a few years ago and nobody seemed to notice except those attempting to visit the FREE national parks.

Well Obama sure showed us with his $1 TRILLION dollar plus "stimulus" package that only stimulate the pockets of crooks and unions (ha I just said two things that both mean the same thing).

And yea it costs a lot of money to keep America safe from the radical Muslims that people like Obama, Bergdahl, and Manning worked so hard to empower.

Maybe if we had spent the last eight years, oh I don't know, actually trying to WIN ...we wouldn't still need to be fighting.

Good effort in trying to blame Republicans for Obama's absolute failure as Commander in Chief though.

I had friends who were part of Obama's stimulus package, and they aren't crooks or union members. What does that make you, a liar? Tell the truth and shame the devil...

I have heard discussion of that being the jump off point for a new Grace Committee once Trump is in office.

Yes the military is the highest priority spending of the Government as it is the highest duty of the Government to protect our "shores" which now extend far beyond our borders even into the digital cloud. And yes Saddam's Iraq was a threat to that national security because of his threat to his neighbors, the region and the rest of the world. That was established as our official policy in 1998 and signed by President Clinton.

So unless you just want to surrender to all those out there that would like to see us defeated what's your plan to this world peace where we no longer need the strongest military in the world one that no one will mess with?

"The sequester lowers spending by a total of approximately $1.1 trillion versus pre-sequester levels over the approximately 8-year period from 2013 to 2021. It lowers non-defense discretionary spending (i.e., certain domestic programs) by a range of 7.8% (in 2013) to 5.5% (in 2021) versus pre-sequester amounts, a total of $294 billion."

How about we fire any manager who cannot adapt his operation to a 5% budget cut and bring someone in who can? How about esepecially after Democrats increased spending by 9% in 2008 and then 18% in 2009 and kept it at those levels there after with just some almost unoticible lower spending until that sequester which only cut it back by that 7%-5% range.

I think the cuts should be made to the military, the spy agencies, the federal court system including 2 SCOTUS justices, the Secret Service, and the White House staff and 20 percent of Congress.

That's 20% of the federal workforce getting out of the wagon and pushing in the private sector when they get jobs.

Pennies on the dollar compared to what their pensions would pay them.

Any other well thought out retorts?

    20% isn't enough, but it's a start.
Trump could gut billions from the NSA, CIA, FBI with their wasteful spending and
    nobody would see a difference.

Or government services will just get that much worse and we'll end up getting that staff back before you know it.

    - - - Updated - - -

Assuming that's where he'll do the trimming, of course.

Of course, he's also promised more military spending. It'll probably be a wash at best and government services will probably suffer as a result. If you thought the lines and waiting times were bad now...

You can't make the intellectual disintinction between private sector which we desperately need and public sector which we desperately do not and in the manner in which he was speaking.

    - - - Updated - - -

He can start with Commerce, Labor and Education then move to HUD and HHS. And according to my daughter-in-law who worked at SSA after her discharge from the Marine Corp about half those people could be cut with all the wasted manpower and incompetents and fire all the managers that told her not to report cases of fraud or question eligibility of applicants and we could save TONS of money.

    - - - Updated - - -

And when we change the civil service rules and fire the ones who cannot find more efficient ways to run their departments and maybe hire some of those who might now learn to better apply their talents. And why not work on getting rid of the NEED for all those government services instead of working on maintaining and growing as if the bigger the government gets the better things will be.

If they are useless "federal employees" than more power to him.
