Seems like they have some options

    SNIP
    • The longest serving majority senator is traditionally handed the honor of serving as the president pro tempore of the chamber. Among Democrats that would be Patrick Leahy. But a Democratic majority could choose any sitting senator for that role, including Elizabeth Warren and even Bernie Sanders. If the succession law covers a missed election, which would be doubtful, then the senator selected to serve as president pro tem would become the next president. This thought is scary enough to Republicans to assure that they will do everything they can to hold the election.

House rep vacancies are always filled via special election. If you're going to try to disagree with that, please cite a single example of a US House of Representatives seat being filled by appointment.

Wow, that sounds like you didn't defend your assertion. I'll accept that as a concession that being president does actually "mean much," even if the House is not seated.

I think that's president of the Senate.

I suspect you'd be looking at a fight, if Trump screws up the elections that badly. I am no expert in such things, but I think we would be in uncharted waters.

Actually, a group of former officials gamed this out recently. It wasn't pretty.

By trying to create a personal paramilitary, screwing with the mail, and other dirty tricks...

That's a definition of protection with which I was previously unacquainted.

There is this thing called a google machine that allows you to look up states without voter ID laws.

$10 says Trump will again suggest we postpone the election.

he may even say he won't accept the results of the election if the race is close and there was a lot of mail ballots.

As far as the issue of Appointing Senators (if NO Election is Held):

The current Senate is made up of 47 (D) and 53 (R).

35 seats up in 2020 - including special elections in Arizona and Georgia - of which 23 are held by the GOP and 12 by the Democrats.

If NO Election is held, the Dems Lose 12 Seats and the GOP loses 23.

Thus, the Senate would be composed of a 35 to 30 Democratic Majority.

Most experts (who have gamed-out this potentially unprecedented scenario) are in agreement THAT:

Given the States Involved, the Parties of the Governors Involved, and each State"s Rules in regards to Appointment to Senate Vacancies, it is believed that the Dems would still end up with the Senate Majority.

However, given the political implications of such appointments, these would be the most contentious Senate Appointments in History.

Especially, when the Governor of the opposing party is asked to fill the vacancy created by a Senator who lost their position because of NO Federal Election.

The implications could be staggering if State Legislatures attempted to change their Constitutions to manipulate the Governor's Options, Etc.

It is a really endless Rabbit Hole. That is certain.

He did not tell people to drink bleach to cure Covid. He suggested that injecting disinfectants and putting UV light inside to lungs to clean it is a potential treatment for covid. There's video for those who don't want to read:

And yes, he floated the notion of delaying the election. To those who continue to repeat this defense of him "just asking questions," I propose the following:

Let us suppose that someone walks up to you and says, "I am curious how you would feel if I beat your ass to bloody pulp." Do you walk away, unconcerned, because you think, "Ah, that man is simply asking a question."

No, because you are - hopefully - not a ****ing moron.

You do not ensure voter integrity by calling the election the most corrupt and fraudulent in US history.

The man has already been impeached once for committing a high crime and misdemeanor. What makes you think he hasn't done so a 2nd time?

The only thing that Trump is trying to protect is his own power and money.

He's just trying to sow distrust in our electoral system, and unfortunately, there are a lot of Americans disgruntled enough to buy into that idea.

Totally different context here. He doesn't want to delay the election out of concerns for coronavirus. He wants to do it because he doesn't think he can win.

    Apples to oranges, man!
