By the way people talk to different groups in different styles. That’s something I used to stress to my students that were predominantly black. I would tell them that I don’t care how they talk among themselves but in my classroom they have to speak standard English. When I make speeches I get rid of my Brooklyn accent but when I talk to my friends from Brooklyn I become a “New yawker “

I speak fluent "Hoosier". When I make speeches it is fluent Hoosier. I tell my students, always be true to yourself. Abraham Lincoln also spoke fluent Hoosier. He didn't change his dialect to that of Franklin D. Roosevelt at the Gettysburg Address!

My students who do not speak English are smart enough to learn it and know that it is important in this country.. There is nothing wrong with going in and out of accents . I know that my Brooklyn accent is viewed negatively in some places so I adapt. But then again right wing extremists tend to judge people by how they speak rather than hear what they’re saying.

 

I really have to laugh because in practically every cartoon trump is shown with his nose in the air.He makes some stupid stupid statement and then raises his head up and gloats like an idiot as his base cheers while he’s screwing them . I agree that speaking English is important in this country because it makes it easier for immigrants to navigate the country.
The second generation of immigrants learn English immediately and are usually bilingual. So many of my students were Puerto Rican and it took them no time to learn the language. Their parents came here to give their kids a better life even though they couldn’t speak English themselves
If I move to a foreign country now I doubt if I would be able to learn the language but hopefully the next generations would

It's hard to know what to believe anymore these days. What I do believe is the hate. I do not believe that anyone is faking their hatred for President Trump, and all of the right people hate him.

I don't care if President Trump "acts like a human being". I don't care if he flings poop around like a monkey. I would much rather put up with President Trump's inhuman behavior than have the best intentions of government busy bodies imposed upon me by force of law.

As long as President Trump stands between me and those who hate him, and by extension me, he will have my full support.

I don't care how people "act" because it's an act. I care what people accomplish. President Trump has accomplished more in two and a half years than any president during the full duration of their terms in the last one hundred and fifty years.

You should care how people act. He has not accomplished more in 2 1/2 years than any president during the duration of their terms. I have to laugh at that because he probably said that. I guess turning around an almost depression like Obama did is no big deal. He’s continuing what he was left and it wasn’t losing 700,000 jobs a month. How’s the wall going? How’s repealing Obamacare going? How’s the debt going?
I wonder how you would feel if your child came home and told you that h her teacher called her fatso or Dumbo and let the kids all laugh at her Then you see the teacher and your kid really learned algebra in her class. Don't get us wrong, it's not that we don't care about anything. It's that our choices are not between President Trump and "anything". It's not that we are not unaware of or don't care about how President Trump acts. It's just that we would rather tolerate the way President Trump acts than have your best intentions for us imposed upon us by force of law. As long as he stands between us and you, we will support him.

 

And the same way the teacher who bullies your kid stands between your kid and college... There are other people who can teach your kid and there are other people who can lead this country without the disrespect
