WASHINGTON/BEIJING (Reuters) – President Donald Trump said on Thursday U.S. complaints against Huawei Technologies Co Ltd might be resolved within the framework of a U.S.-China trade deal, while at the same time calling the Chinese telecommunications giant “very dangerous.”...

“You look at what they’ve done from a security standpoint, from a military standpoint, it’s very dangerous,” Trump said in remarks at the White House. “If we made a deal, I could imagine Huawei being possibly included in some form or some part of it.”...

    2. Using the analogy of a hypocrite hugging his opponent with one hand, but stabbing repeatedly at the back with the other, don't be deluded that Trump is dangling a carrot or keeping the door open to a "50-50 deal" in future trade talks. Like facing a cobra that keeps swaying its head, China must be prepared for the next lightning, devastating strike unleashed by the US. That guy can say one thing now and another in the next moment.

One thing is certain. However Trump contradicts himself, his true intention is to crush China. If he ever normalizes US-Sino relations to the level prior to his presidency, the sky will fall onto his head or the sun will rise from the west tomorrow.

As a Chinese saying goes, "When you meet a ghost, speak like a ghost; when you meet a human, speak like a human." His empty rhetoric was meant to pacify disgruntled farmers who are affected by the escalating trade war, and to calm stock market speculators who could be fleeing anytime like a herd of frightened cattle in a wild stampede.

Not only should China play the same game with Trump, it should take the opportunity to "put itself into a position of strength" (one of Trump's favourite catchphrases):

    (a) Besides demanding the US to stop crippling Huawei's global business, China must demand the US to let Huawei do business in the US. In fact, Americans must be allowed to do as much business as possible with Huawei.

    (b) China must demand the US to let all US-Sino commercial ties return to pre-Trump levels.

    (c) China must demand the US to normalize US-Sino relations vis-à-vis Taiwan once and for all.

    (i) China must demand the US to rescind the Taiwan Relations Act.

(ii) China must demand the US to sever its de facto diplomatic relations with Taiwan including the closure of US de facto embassy in Taipei.

(iii) China must demand the US to halt all commercial and military ties with Taiwan, including arms sales and military drills.

(iv) China must demand the US to halt all naval operations in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.

    (d) China must also demand the US to stop interfering with its domestic affairs in other Chinese provinces, otherwise China will do the same in the so-called "Indian Nations".
