I think the Republicans who hated McCain but wanted a Republican President dug her up just TO embarrass him. ( It wasn't McCain who picked The Ditz)

It was like Repubs saying we want a Republican President and if it has to be YOU we will make you PAY!

Which is exactly the point. McCain got his due as a Senator, albeit the minimum. McCain's POW status has nothing to do with the subject. Trump snubbed Senator McCain ... that feud ... a mutually combative one went on quite a while, and lasted until the bitter end. So what? Trump's animosity towards McCain doesn't extend to US vets, and the implication is absurd. Trump is a vets best friend.

Trump saying he doesn't like people that were captured, means he does not support our pow's

He stopped refusing after he was reminded.

But really, is anybody surprised? I wasn't. This isn't even really a big story in Trump world, just another Trump being the asshat that he is everyday type thing.

He sure didn't support the one in question, and with good reason. I've not once, in dozens of posts disparaged McCain's service record. I've only criticized Senator McCain's "thumbs down" betrayal once. My list of reasons to dislike McCain is extensive, but not relevant to the debate, and I'll leave it there. Persons with intimate knowlege of McCain's confinement in Hanoi, have published accounts of their captivity. Perhaps Trump's read them, and perhaps you should too.

Optimism? I can name 3 of McCain's brothers in arms who very publicly discussed McCain's time in Hanoi, off of the top of my head. Many headlines, and interviews in 2008 ahead of McCain's presidential bid. You'd have to have spent the last 40 yrs on another planet not to have heard the details. MSM was no friend to John McCain before McCain delivered Steele's dossier, and killed the repeal of ACA.

'Cause I wasn't at all up front when in my very 1st post said: "McCain died, I'm over it"? I still haven't attacked McCain, because McCain's service isn't relevant to ceremonial issues. You're going to have to work a lot harder to get your "gotcha" fix from me ...

Sure, and that's why you're attacking his service in the most shameful way now. You're just Trump redux.

BTW, I see you joined Jul 12, 2016. Hmmmm, very interesting.

I'm willing to defend at least the 3 I'm able to name right now, off the top of my head ... more if I take just a moment to google. Now I won't utter a single word of criticism towards McCain ... But I will link the published accounts of McCain's fellow POW's if you ask me to.

I haven't attacked McCain at all ... I haven't elevated him above 3 fellow Hanoi Hilton survivors the way you have. I haven't looked to see if these fellow POW's are still alive, but by your professed reasoning, they're entitled to a states funeral. Your not going to attack them for accounts of the time they spent in captivity are you?

You know you're glad that happy coincidence gave you another point of deflection ... You haven't asked about the links I offered? Colonel John A. Dramesi died Sept. 17, 2017. The retired POW did not receive states funeral. Dramesi a fellow pilot was captured and confined with McCain in Hanoi. Dramesi escaped twice between 1966 -1973. Senator John McCain did not attend his funeral. Colonel Dramesi is buried in Arlington. Short walk from McCain's office.

First of all, nobody said McCain was perfect.

But maybe, just maybe, it can be that he wasn't able to attend the funeral. (Personnally I recently missed the funeral of a close friend of 50 years, due to a bronchitis that was keeping me in bed. Let's not judge too quickly.)

I still haven't judged ... just provided dates, and scant details. Didn't Colonel Dramesi deserve states funeral based on sacrifice, and why didn't your personal symbol of distinguished service, John McCain advocate for Col. Dramesi to be honored? You pried open the envelope, why nor examine the contents? You made it about disrespecting vets, and for what? Trump gives his critics ammunition every hour of every day.

On the ward next to mine, at Chelsea Naval Hosp., there was a combat wounded soldier who was amputated at the waist. They had given him a choice, die of your massive, infected, wounds, or try this radical amputation. He choose a chance at life. The procedure was done somewhere in NY state. He survived and returned to Chelsea. During his recovery he would wheel himself around on a dolly, face down, and come up next to your bed and ask you to kill him. Of course none of us took him up on it. Nor did any of us judge him in any way. It was just another horrific example of the repercussions of war all of us on the ward had dealt with in Vietnam and were still dealing with as we recovered from our own wounds.

Anyone who judges the actions of those who have been through the extremes in life isn't thinking clearly.

Apparently you didn't understand my point, so I'll try again.

    When I wrote this:

...you agreed with me that it had nothing to do with McCain being a POW. Honoring POWs with flag at half mast and/or State funerals is another matter altogether.

Again, you agreed with me on that; I don't see why you're back with the Vets argument now.

Apologies. I mistook you for a person with whom a reasonable discussion could be had. Instead it turns out you are someone prepared to overlook people accusing McCain of killing 134 US servicemen because you'd rather whine about people saying mean things about Trump (note that I wasn't, which makes your reply all the more strange).

I'll leave you to run with the pack.

Yeah, you've been responding to replies that address @dave8383 sporadically. Here's the exchange you entered, and @dave8383. 1 of a dozen centered on Trump's "snub" extending to vets & POW's. Now review YOUR post #299 ... while I LMFAO ... I destroyed the premise in post #302 ... BUT, you keep coming back for more. Not to worry "supplies are NOT limited, and delivery too your doorstep is always free". :roflol:

The only premise you destroyed is that you have something serious to add to this discussion.
