When business gets so horribly interrupted as it was resulting in huge unemployment and production losses it was inevitable for a period of inflation to follow until employment and production stabilizes back up. We saw similar occur during the late 60s and 70s as the Boomers hit the job markets in masse. It's no real surprise nor is it a long term problem.
