Esteemed and rational former president Trump took to his blog to tear into a leading conservative for not inviting him to their parade of prospective presidential candidates, potentially cutting him off from a steady stream of donations for his odd presidential run.

Repeating a greatest hits of his rhetoric, Trump called the group losers and once again claimed he won the 2020 election.

And why would they invite him? He has already declared he is running. The campaign seems about as popular as drug resistant tuberculosis outside his most ardent supporters.

He also seems, and this is just my opinion, to be doing everything he can to lose, with his actions becoming increasingly irrational (if that is possible) over time.

In a post on his social media site, Truth Social, Trump ripped the group as the “Club For NO Growth” and recounted how his ties to the group fell apart after disagreements over his endorsements in high-profile races in Alabama and Ohio last year.

He also blasted the club for initially opposing his candidacy in 2016 before repeating his false claim that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” against him.

“The Club For NO Growth, an assemblage of political misfits, globalists, and losers, fought me incessantly and rather viciously during my presidential run in 2016,” Trump wrote. “They said I couldn’t win, I did, and won even bigger in 2020, with millions of more votes than ‘16, but the Election was Rigged & Stollen.

“They asked to get together on Endorsements of candidates, we did, and had MANY WINS & NO losses. Relationship broke up over my Endorsement of certain great people in Alabama & Ohio. I won them all!”

I could well be wrong, but it is my opinion that Trump enjoys being a former POTUS more than a sitting POTUS. He can sling mud at Biden and the Dems all day long. He can talk about how everything would be so much different if he were POTUS, but he doesn't need to lift a finger or put in any effort. And I don't think he's worried at all about not being nominated by the Rs...he could go independent, split the R vote and then he can continue to sling mud at the D POTUS in 2024.

If it weren't so wasteful, I'd start a campaign to mail pacifiers to Mar a Lago. Maybe some blue blankies are also in order.

He didn't get invited to the party. :)

Pyromaniacs like to light things on fire and watch them burn. I'd say the only way he doesn't go Independent and burn down the R party is.......wait, the R Party will burn!

To quote that wise philosopher, Courtney Barnett, directed at Trump, no one really cares if you don't go to the party.

I don't think the Club for Growth at any time endorsed Trump or supported him. They sure were not going to support him this go round, so I wonder why he was calling attention to that?

    Several reaons come to mind.

    1. He's an idiot who thinks he is literally the center of the universe.

    2. His little feelings were hurt, and he wants everyone to know that.

    3. Repeat 1&2

They did when Trump won the nomination in 2016 and supported him and his ideas including the USMCA in his administration.

More like NAFTA renamed USMCA. They are basically the same bill.

I would rather not have him mentioned at all, not even in the history books.

After he won the nomination they pretty much had little choice, unlike now.

They were one of the organizations pushing for NAFTA to be revised long before Trump decided to run for office, not to mention lowering corporate tax rates. But organizations always have a choice once a person is nominated and wins the presidency.

Could you source CFG supporting a new NAFTA before Trump? My memory of this is that they opposed revising NAFTA until Trump repealed his tariffs.

Anyway I'm not sure what your point is. Is it that CFG is really a Trumpie MAGA organization? To me, within the umbrella of Republican affiliated lobby groups, Club for Growth is among the least Trumpie of the major ones. The fact that they didn't invite him to a donor retreat seems totally unsurprising, yet you find it eye opening. I wonder if they invited him in 2015? I'd guess no.

The US Chamber of Commerce is for free trade and liked NAFTA overall even though there were problems with the treaty on some specific issues. Second, they have called for modernizing the treaty, which is exactly what Trump did and did not put forth many of his wacky proposals such as totally withdrawing from NAFTA for instance.

US Chamber of Commerce was never a Trump organization or MAGA organization. It never was and never will be. But one of their key issues is trade, namely free trade, and have constantly advocated for free trade which is not something that Trump wants or the MAGA crowd. They are more on the protectionist side of trade. But they are willing to work with administrations if a trade is on the table and offer their ideas like any other organization. Hence the point that US Chamber of Commerce does not need the GOP. But since the US Chamber of Commerce is the largest donor by business association that donates to politicians who share their free trade ideas, they will donate to them. And the GOP cannot rely on Mega GOP donors all the time either. Look at how the GOP mega-donors are avoiding trump right now.

Excuse me but...what the hell? We were discussing The Club for Growth, not the Chamber of Commerce.
