Trump says ‘Fake News’ pushing ‘major confrontation’ with Russia

There is no discussion about détente going on between the US and Russia.

There are no agreements of any sort being negotiated.

Trump wanted this meeting with Putin. But there was no plan, no list of deliverable, no advance work, and no joint communique.

In fact, the only results that this summit was supposed to have accomplished are being announced by the Russians. So far, every one of them have come as news to Trump's staff, who have no idea what Trump was doing in Helsinki (as Dan Coats made abundantly clear on Thursday).

There isn't anything normal about this. Nor is there any sign of any list of issues discussed, deliverable or accomplishments being circulated by the White House.

Trying to gloss over all this stupidity, kowtowing and incompetence, by trying to substitute some imaginary "détente" is pathetic.

I take it that you're one of the Trumpsters who just now discovered that Germany buys natural gas from the Russians.(they've only been doing it for at least 50 years). I don't see any mention of how this new pipeline will increase their market share. The Russians want it because it won't go through Ukraine. The volume is almost certainly going to be the same.

Then there's the drivel about starting a war in Ukriane and sending SJW (whatever that is) to fight it. Never mind that that precisely contradicts your nonsense about imaginary "détente". Never mind that if the US inserted itself directly into the Ukraine conflict that the blowback would be considerable, (this is the typical right wing assumption that any particularly belligerent act they may fantasize about has no consequences elsewhere. You would have though you guys would have learned that lesson with the Iraq war that so many of you cheered for using this exact sort of half assed logic).

None of this has anything to do with the national anthem. Where that came from, I have no idea.

 

Don't get your hopes up.

Trump already got everything he cared about from his pageant. He got to put on a big show, indulge his juvenile obsession with pomp and ceremony, and get shown of Fox as if he was a respected world leader.

Of course, the illusion hardly lasted more than a few hours. And within two weeks the North Koreans had already announced that they have no intention of denuclearizing.

Perceptions often do count for a lot. But the perceptions that count are those of world leaders.

And Trump is perceived as a weak, bumbling fool. They already knew how craven and corrupt he is.
