I don't actually mind the Supreme Court being controlled by conservatives because liberals and moderate are sure to be dominating American politics in the next few decades thanks to demographic shifts.

Back in 2016 McConnell and Trump claimed that if a Justice needs to be appointed on election year, that the people decide the president who will do this. Now they don't believe this anymore when the tables have turned?

So basically this was a lie and the GOP just didn't want anybody nominated by a democratic president.

This is a dangerous precedent and will result in the senate outright refusing the nominate Supreme Court justices half the time. Also we might even see the democrats add a couple Supreme Court justices to balance things out.

Make it a woman or a black dude, wait for Democrats to go insane and drag said person through the mud...

Turn it into a political ad.

    Win/win.

Or a black female conservative justice. That would really spin heads.

What is a 'moderate' in the context of interpretting the Constitution?

I hope he nominates a literalist.

Takes Republican Senate 2 months to even look at drafting a bill for the American people but 2 hours to get ready to fill a supreme court vacancy.... Tells you everything you need to know

in 2016, when a lame-duck President Obama tabbed Merrick Garland to replace the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia, Democratic leaders had no problem with the move. And neither did Ginsburg.

"There's nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being the president in his last year," Ginsburg said in a 2016 New York Times interview in which she called for Garland to receive a confirmation vote in the Senate.

As for whether the Senate should take up a vote on Garland, Ginsburg said at the time, "That's their job."

Indeed, Obama did submit a nominee - as he was entitled to do - and Senator Schumer (Hypocrite-NY) demanded a vote on Garland's nomination.

Evidently, Schumer supports judicial chaos in 2020 after he opposed it in 2016.
