Again, you avoid the important issues mentioned in the OP, issues that are tearing this country apart. But you don't care. Your only concern are those that report the issues.

For example, a global trade war, which Trump is inviting, would be devastating, not only to our economy, but the world's economy as well. Who do you blame? Me, for informing you of this.

Exactly, this tariff is meant to hurt our friends and allies. Why does Trump consistently anger our friends while bestowing praise on our enemies, Russia's Putin, China's Xi, Turkey's Erdogan, and the Philippines' Duterte?

Could it have something to do with the fact that he is Putin's puppet?

Yes, of course, but, as is his custom, Trump is going about it the wrong way. Instead of a coherent strategy to marginalize China, Trump is using a cheap trick to fulfill a campaign promise and solidify his base. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Consider these facts for a moment.

Trump wants to place a 25% tariff on steel and !0% tariff on aluminum.

Canada is the number one exporter of steel to the U.S. Mexico is fourth. China is 11th.

Canada is the number one exporter of aluminum to the U.S. China is fourth.

China dumps cheap steel and aluminum into the world's market.

The European Union and the United States have the largest bilateral trade and investment relationship and enjoy the most integrated economic relationship in the world.

Not enough can be said of our loyal friend to the north.

Trump's tariffs are likely to touch off a trade war. In that war the U.S. will stand alone against the 28 countries of the E.U., Canada, and Mexico as well as other countries exporting steel and aluminum to the U.S.

Our lucrative trade with China will also be negatively affected.

Trump told donors at Saturday's luncheon Mr. Xi is “a great gentleman” and “the most powerful president in 100 years,” who treated him “tremendously well” during his state visit there in November.

Who will be hurt the most in this lopsided trade war? The 6.4 million workers in steel and aluminum related industries to benefit 150,000 workers in steel and aluminum plants who just happen to be a part of Trump's base ... plus every American consumer paying higher prices.

Who benefits the most? China, as she fills the void left by the U.S.

You are right. The Trump White House is so dysfunctional it is hard to keep track of it all.

Define "Deep State." Be specific. Who are the leaders? Who are members of the "Deep State?" Are the issues being discussed by Trump's critics manufactured, fake news, in other words? Or, are they these real issues created by Trump?

I have noticed you rarely challenge the issues mentioned by Trump's critics. Instead, you come up with things like the mythical "Deep State." I'll give you another chance with a couple of posts. Let's see how you do.

Trump continues his old game of wanting it both ways. Reuters reports, "President Donald Trump is to press ahead with the imposition of 25 percent tariffs on steel imports and 10 percent on aluminum, although he said, again, on Thursday he was willing to strike a deal that could exempt Canada and Mexico."

However, Trump said, “I’m sticking with 10 and 25 (percent) initially. I’ll have a right to go up or down, depending on the country, and I’ll have a right to drop out countries or add countries,” he told reporters at the beginning of a Cabinet meeting at the White House.

He really means dropping other countries because, initially, all countries will be subject to his tariffs, he says. This is double talk from the master of truthful hyperbole, in other words, lying. It is a tactic Trump uses so often we can no longer trust what the President says.

Something very ominous is on the horizon. We know that Trump has failed for nearly fourteen months to work up a trade deal with anyone, and he prefers unilateral deals rather bilateral deals. Now it appears he is using threats to make trade deals. In the short run, this may work.

In the long run, our friendly trading partners will remember what he did, and our friendship takes a hit. There will be a cost for Trump's extortion.

One thing to keep in mind about all this, and Trump has admitted this. China is dumping cheap steel and aluminum on the world's market. Trump seems incapable of putting two and two together. This would help explain why nearly every member of his own party plus the majority of his advisors are disagreeing with his liberal tactic, ostensibly protective tariffs. One of his key economic advisors, Gary Cohn, quit over Trump's disastrous tariffs policy.

Trump's boneheaded tariffs policy began as a liberal protective measure, a political stunt. He said he wanted to fulfill a campaign promise and protect the American workers who voted for him. The lunacy of such an idea had to be pointed out to him. The idea of protecting 150,000 workers at aluminum and steel plants at the cost of 6.4 million workers in aluminum and steel related industries is pretty ludicrous. In addition, his tariffs policy would result in higher consumer prices plus the unintended consequences of a trade war with our friendly trading partners, to include the E.U., Canada, and Mexico.

Pretty stupid right, and the strategy cost him his economic advisor, Cohn. So, Trump's ludicrous liberal protective tariffs have morphed into a ludicrous trade strategy caused by his consummate failure of making any trade deals during his nearly fourteen months in office.

Market Watch reports, "President Donald Trump’s plans to impose steel and aluminum imports with “great flexibility” seems like a throwback to U.S. trade policy of the 1980s.

"Thirty years ago, faced with increased competition from Japan, the Reagan administration set out a plan for “voluntary” export restraints. Japan and other countries had to come and sit down with U.S. officials and “volunteer” limits on the cars and steel they shipped to the U.S. Left unsaid were penalties for those who didn’t volunteer.

"Michael Gadbaw, a former attorney of the U.S. Trade Representative and General Electric who is now a law professor at Georgetown University, said he thought that is where Trump was headed with his steel tariffs."

“My sense is that [the Trump plan] will absolutely lead to some kind of negotiations,” Gadbaw told reporters on a conference call sponsored by the Atlantic Council this week.

“Every country that has a trade interest is going to come in and try to make a deal,” he said.

Trump agrees. He said so himself. “I’m sticking with 10 and 25 (percent) initially. I’ll have a right to go up or down, depending on the country, and I’ll have a right to drop out countries or add countries,” he told reporters at the beginning of a Cabinet meeting at the White House.

There is a problem with this strategy, a problem the Donald can't see because he needs to always be right. Countries will remember that the American President used coercion rather than diplomacy and negotiation to achieve his goals. It is certainly possible that America may pay a price for that long into the future.

Deep State: unelected career employees within the federal governmet who exercise power beyond their job description

Also members of the liberal media who are the publicity agents for governmemt leakers

Finally liberal activist judges that pick up wherever the unelected bureaucrats leave off

The biggest issue today is Trump's liberal tariffs and their effect on world trade.

Trump's fans are talking about everything except Trump's liberal tariffs and their effect on world trade.

To Trump fans: Do you have a 401K? Did you vote against your interests? Why do you support Trump?

Because he is likes the 2nd Amendment and appoints conservative judges? He isn't Hillary? And everything else can go to hell?:roflol:

I see. A highly organized group, are they, with common goals? And who might their leaders be? Surely, something as ominous as deep state must have leadership. Who are they?

And, I take it, Trump is an innocent party? His various connections to Russia is fake news. The connections his associates have to Russia is fake news. The meeting in Trump Tower, his home, didn't happen. That's all fake, too. Someone impersonating the President is writing all those infantile, moronic tweets. He didn't really fire the director of the FBI, touching off the special prosecutor; Comey quit. He really doesn't have a 34% turnover rate at the White House; that is all fake news. Everyone wants to work at the White House; it doesn't matter that they have to lawyer up.

Wow! This is really serious. All this stuff never happened. It is all fake news generated by federal career employees and ginned up by the media.

If you believe all that, you have a very serious mental condition. It is called Trump Infatuation, curable only when you start voting for liberals.

Wonder how the shills here will spin the N Korea announcement? Probably "Trump capitalizes on Obama Administration efforts to disarm N Korea" or some other flagrant lie. That news puts all the LW dumpster digging in perspective, oops.

    Yes, that is very obvious.

They all rushed to pile on a completely pointless bs rant about masculinity from Tucker Carlson, which had nothing to do with anything other than as a self serving promotion of Trumpian vulgarity.

Trumpists would continue to support Trump even if he burned their houses down.

Trump tells them that "1+1=3" and they believe it (and consider it gospel).

Of course they don't care to hear about anything that reflects negatively on their Bloated Orange Messiah.

Trump supporters just stick their heads in the sand, they can't be bothered with FACTS or REALITY.

    Oh well.

Blind Trump Apologists gonna Blind Trump Apologize.:smfh: :salute:

Instead of shooting off your mouth, why not find out, instead. Please see http://politicalforum.com/index.php...m-the-jaws-of-victory.528137/#post-1068793975

Your comments are welcomed, assuming they will be intelligent.

The fact is, Trump supporters are largely ignoring this issue along with the tariffs issue, the two most important issues in the news today.

Why are they ignoring these issues? Because, in both cases, Trump is really screwing up.

My concern is, Trumpians are getting their news from sources like Carlson, Pirro, and Hannity. In other words, pro-Trump news for dummies. It sure seems that is true because they know so little of what is going on. Their posts are filled with wisecracks, ad hominems, cartoons and very little substance.

Of course, that is to be expected by those who voted for Trump.
