There is absolutely no question that both of these cities could have mitigated their damage with just a bit of common sense.

Maybe the police/authorities can track down those who caused the damage, file charges, and restitution can be ordered? Then civil suits can be filed on behalf of those who lost businesses and whose neighborhoods are in ruins.

I seem to remember a certain person on PF that said rioting was proper. So who exactly caused the destruction of businesses and neighborhoods anyway?

NOT everyone who suffered damages during the riots started the rioting or took part in it.

There were INNOCENT people who lost businesses due to no fault of their own.

Their neighborhoods were in ruins and they did NOT cause it.

This was a man made disaster. Specifically 1 person. The mayor of the city who refused to do anything while they let the animals run rampant.

 

Punish the rioters, not the American taxpayers. Punish the city officials who aided and abetted the destruction - not the American taxpayers. And wasn't it you that felt sympathy for the rioters and thought that their actions were appropriate?

 

Over a month later I think there have been less than a handful of arrests. Clearly they are long out of jail and they have no money so civil suits are meaningless.
The police department is in limbo awaiting the twelve different independent thoughts of each of the members of the city clowncil who already have voted to dismantle the police department. Their last clowncil meeting was a bust.

 

Changes nothing I said-the fact remains.

 

It does not matter if you think everyone looted or not.

Private citizens will not risk capital by investing there, and with good reason.

Are some of the locals and the state and local democrats in office to blame? Sure.

Keep in mind even leftist California has places TODAY that are still rotting after the rodney king riots.

You could blame the mob, or the democrat govt, or the people who voted in the dems-but that won't change a thing.
